Outlook - cannot add Google G Suite account - javascript disabled?
I am trying to add Google G Suite account to Outlook. When I enter the G Suite account email it shows the Google login screen.
Then I get a question by Google to choose "Organizational G Suite account" or "Individual Google Account".
I select "Organizational G Suite account" and then I get "Couldn’t sign you in" screen with this message:
"The browser you’re using doesn’t support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off.
To keep your Google Account secure, try signing in on a browser that has JavaScript turned on. Learn more
If you continue to have problems signing in, please contact your administrator."
If I click on "Learn more" I get an Internet Explorer 11 browser opened with the page. This makes me think that Outlook is opening the sign-in screen in IE 11 browser control and somehow Javascript is disabled.
I am using Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178) on Windows 11.
Any ideas on how to fix this.
It was working for me for more than a year. I don't have problem with other G Suite accounts where I am not asked to choose between "Organizational" and "Individual" account, but this account is important to me as it is my company account.
The same happens on a brand new laptop I installed with fresh Windows 11 / Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178).
I would really appreciate any help.

- GatitoCopper ContributorI have the same issue, I have multiple Gmail accounts, some with @gmail, others are legacy accounts hosted in google. All of them linked to my Outlook, but only one cannot download the emails in the last two weeks.
I can read them on the web (gmail screen), I can read them on my iPhone, but not on Outlook for that one account. Other accounts work well.
I wish there was a simple solution to fix this account. I will keep reading your posts until I find it. - CubasDictatorCopper Contributor
From the Start menu, type regedit.exe in the search box, and then press Enter.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. In Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
Find the REG_DWORD OUTLOOK.EXE and double-click to edit.
Select Decimal and change it to 11001 and select OK.
Close Registry Editor and restart Outlook.

I had the same issue with getting Javascript not enabled error when trying to login with Outlook 365. I finally figured out how to circumvent the problem. On the Google One login screen instead of logging in with the existing G-Suite account, select create a new account, then select use an existing account and enter your existing G-Suite email address. Google will then complain, that the address exists already and give you an option on the same screen to login instead, click on that link and you will be able to login with your existing account, and it will then be added to your Outlook program automatically.
Hope this will work for you as well- bensamgoldCopper Contributor
Marco_Q The registry changes did not work for me but your simple solution worked!

- To add a Google Workspace account in Outlook, use Google Sync for Microsoft Outlook: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gssmo/

- JayHaugenCopper ContributorAs a follow up to my earlier reply, this is to let you know that your registry fix did the job! Thank you!! I can't tell how much time I spent with the tech support from my ISP (who migrated their email to google's gmail server) who simply said it wasn't their problem, it was Microsoft's. And to be fair, it is apparent that it is Microsoft's problem with Outlook.
Anyway, I was leery about changing the registry on my work laptop so I tried it first on my older laptop that was having the same problem. Your fix worked like a charm on the old Windows 7 laptop and worked fine on my Windows 11 machine.

Try the solutions suggested here - patch the registry (this worked for me) and/or resolve the Google account issue

Himayojs Which solution(s) are you talking about? I've tried them all and nothing has worked (and it seems that many others in here have done the same to no avail). I have also gone as far as creating a "test" email address in Google Workspace, then completed a Data Migration to copy everything from the problematic email address to the "newly" created email address. I then renamed the problematic email address (backup) and then renamed the "test" email address to the same name as the problematic email. From GMail, everything looks fine. I can log into either or. I then went into Microsoft Office and tried to set up a new account for the "new" Organisational G Suite Account and the same message pops up:
"The browser that you're using doesn't support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off.
To keep your Google Account secure, try signing in on a browser that has JavaScript turned on. Learn more
If you continue to have problems signing in, please contact your administrator."
So, please tell us what you did to fix this.
Thanks in advance.

I have managed to make it work.
What worked for me was to login to google in a browser, when it prompted to choose between G-Suite and Individual I choose Individual and then it asked to create / rename the account, but instead of our company domain it was locked to gmail.com.
Then when I tried to login to my email account on workspace it logged in without prompt to choose between accounts, then I added my mail to outlook and it is working wonders.
- NikolayIBrass ContributorThis is not an option for me as Google requires SMS verification for this personal account and it is linked to a phone number I don't own for 10 or more years and does not give me any other way to login to the personal account. So far this has not be a problem at all as I use only the G-Suite account and as far as I understand the personal account is practically unusable as I would have to change the username anyway.
However, the real problem is the Outlook implementation of the embedded browser - why in 2022 it is still IE 11, while the browser used for the Outlook Add-Ins is Edge (Microsoft Edge WebView2 at the moment). Both browsers are embedded into the same desktop software (Outlook).

I found a simple fix and it worked 3 times already:
The problem is that when you upgrade from G-Suite Legacy to Google's Workspace Business google builds another totally different account with the same name, that is mailto:your_name@your_domain.
Now you have 2 accounts with the same email address, one is Individual (the old legacy one), the other is your new business account. This situation causes outlook to fail when trying to install the email account in outlook, or even to fix or change the password to the old outlook account that worked fine until now.
The solution is to get rid of the Google's individual account, or change its email address.
How to do that:
When you try to sign in to chrome with that email address you get 2 choices: Individual, or Business?
Choose the Individual. You can't login to it since you don't have it's password, don't try, instead click on "forgot password". Follow the conversation there, when asked, put an old password (the one you had prior to the upgrade for example), you will get a security code to your mail, which is alright because you can enter your new email account in gmail.com , not needing outlook for it, you should now see that google changed the account to a temporary name likemailto:yourname%yourdomain@gtempaccount.commailto:ram%danacode.co.il@gtempaccount.com
You should be able now access this temporary mail in gmail.com, when you first sign in you are asked to choose a permanent name for it, choose something and you are now set with the Individual account renamed. Now you may proceed to install/fix your account in outlook.
(The renamed individual account holds some data and permissions to some google apps that you registered to while it was a legacy account, most of your data, like emails, photos, calendar, drive, where transferred to your new business account, therefore what is left of your old legacy account is probably negligible)- nayanp1040Copper ContributorThis was my issue. Seems to me there are two causes, the first which goes back to this original thread post and relates to the version of Internet Explorer that Outlook uses (and it not supporting Javascript), fixed through the registry key to force using the default browser, and a second issue, more recent and probably related to Google ceasing the free (legacy) Google Suite product, as outlined above. Mine seems to be related to this issue, but I do not get a choice to rename my individual account. Nevertheless, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers
- DevarroCopper ContributorThe IE issues are a red herring. Resolving the account conflict also resolves the Javascript issue which means that this has nothing to do with IE.

I believe I found the issue and a fix, but it may be only temporary.
Log into the email account through the web interface.
Click on Settings >> See All Settings
Click on Accounts >> Google Account settings
In the search bar type "less secure" and you'll see an option for "Less secure app access"
You'll have to log in again to change this setting.
Change "Allow less secure apps" to On.
Launch outlook and it appears to work.
This may be only a temporary fix since according to google as of May 30, 2022 this setting will no longer be available.
