accessing sub folder of a shared mailbox 'directly'
In the classic desktop version of Outlook for Windows (version 2302) or Outlook web access, if someone has been granted access by a colleague to a particular folder on a shared or user mailbox, e.g. ...
- Dec 11, 2023There's no direct way to access a specific folder in a shared mailbox unless you have full access or access to the "top of the information store" folder.
Workarounds include:
1. Request full mailbox access.
2. Use folder permissions for the subfolder.
3. Delegate access for specific actions.
4. Share the calendar if it contains calendar items.
5. Manually add the folder in OWA (may not always work).
It's best to request the appropriate permission level from the mailbox owner.

Hi CRIB111,
For Outlook on Windows:
- Begin by sharing the primary folder first, and then set sharing permissions for the desired subfolder.
- Open a shared mailbox by selecting a folder within the Shared Mailbox on the Folder Panel to the left.
For Outlook Web Access:
- The shared mailbox and its folders are visible in the left navigation pane each time you open Outlook on the web.
- Expand or collapse shared mailbox folders, similar to your primary mailbox.
