OneDrive folders when switching to a new computer
Thank you NikolinoDE for the detailed reply. I will try to work with your suggestions. Pausing OneDrive sync has proved unsuccessful for me - first it is hard to get it to pause while it is syncing and it does not show the folders in the account till it is done.
Not sure why Microsoft cannot make it more flexible!!
I mean Box did this as I recall and when my work moved to OneDrive it was a disaster... I changed my computers with Box and the SD card and it worked well... (As I remember - though it is faded :-)

Microsoft could make this process much smoother. Box (and Dropbox, too) do a better job of “remembering” your folder selections across devices because they tie those preferences more closely to your account in the cloud. With OneDrive for Business, Microsoft chose to keep those folder-selection settings local to each machine, which is why you feel like you’re starting over every time you move devices.
Microsoft could allow “default folder selections” tied to your account, and then let you override per-device. That would give you Box-like portability without removing flexibility. Unfortunately, that’s not in place today.
There’s a UserVoice / Feedback Hub push on this, but Microsoft tends to prioritize enterprise-level features (compliance, security, data retention) over these quality improvements.
