OneDrive files not visible or accessible in the browser, only desktop app!?
Hi. Wondering if anyone has encountered this issue I have with OneDrive. When files get saved to OneDrive, I cannot always see them through the browser, but those files are accessible when I view them from the OneDrive app via Windows Explorer.
The most obvious example is Teams meetings recordings which I cannot see in the browser and other meeting attendees cannot connect to from the Teams meeting detail. (The error message 'This item might not exist or is no longer available. This item might have been deleted, expired or you might not have permissions to view it. Contact the owner of this item for more information' is displayed with a picture of a bicycle!) But, they are visible to me in the OneDrive app and I can watch the recording.
I've tried everything I can think of with my local IT support team and we cannot fix this. They have suggested a change of laptop but I can't see how this would fix the issue, has anyone else come across this or got any ideas? Thanks!
- sowhatnowCopper ContributorOMG. i think I really messed up, I saw that Onedrive was on my computer twice and then it popped up on my virus program (microsoft defender) so I thought the new microsoft downloads was someone hacking my computer so I deleted all the new microsoft 365 downloads from that day and now my computer won't let me see any of my images. I wish I would have known about this new update ... because I had two of everything ... WORD, EXCEL, MICROSOFT 365... on so on. I really thought I had hit a link that was bad and so now I don't know what to do! I even have Onedrive still on my computer but when I deleted the new Onedrive .. I still have the other version on my computer so I thought I was good to go. Apparently not! I am now trying to figure out what to do. I think I may roll back the update and do it all over again. I hope that fixes the issue. 😞
- NubbyNubkinsCopper ContributorI had this happen too. I tried everything unitl I realized my Avast anti-virus might have been the issue. I shut off all the shields to test it and sure enough worked. I'm not too happy with this solution though but I'll add an exception to the site for now.
- Robert_SchollCopper ContributorOn a possibly related note, I'm having issues with no files showing in the browser. I did get them to show up again and hopefully, it is fixed. What I did was open the developer tools in the browser and cleared all cookies, session storage, and local storage. Logged back in and the files were now showing.

Robert_Scholl Thanks, Robert. This worked for me.

raj_v_jm Excellent 🙂
- Al_B_inPTBrass Contributorare you sure you are still syncing to the cloud? Are you logged in? To be clear, are you talking about personal OneDrive, your work personal OneDrive or a connection to a Onedrive sync on SharePoint, etc. (Files saved from Teams usually end up in the relevant SharePoint backend). When you say "They are visible to me in the OneDrive app" that means to me that you can see them in File Explorer but you may not be properly logged in to see them in the right "cloud". And yes, it is very confusing that MSFT uses "OneDrive" to describe a software tool, and a location in the cloud. I wish they would change the naming convention!!
- Laurie WillisIron ContributorIf I click on the OneDrive icon in the task bar the panel tells me my files are sync'd. This is for a work account and yes I can see them in File Explorer ("the app") but not the browser/cloud.

I am having the same issue as well in Chrome. Files show up in Firefox and Edge though, so I'm guessing it is a Chrome problem.
- Khalid_MirzaCopper ContributorI have the same problem. Were you able to resolve this issue?
- Laurie WillisIron ContributorNo, still have the same problem. I suspect it is either to do with my profile but not certain.
