Teams pulls up main window after switching application windows during a meeting
I hope I can explain this properly, please let me know if it isn't clear.
OS: macOS Sonoma
Teams version: 24277.3502.3161.3007
When I am in a Teams call, I will often need to temporarily switch windows to Chrome or another application. When I tab back to the Teams call, the Main Teams window will pop up on top of the call, which requires me to minimize it in order to view the call window. I haven't been able to find a setting that addresses this specifically.
Simplified steps:
- Join a Teams call from the the primary Teams window or Outlook calendar
- Switch applications to something else - Slack, Chrome, etc.
- Click the Teams icon in the dock
- The Teams call will take focus
- The Teams main window automatically pops up overlays the call, hiding it
Thanks in advance for your help and please let me know if there is anything I can clarify.

I think we need to post this on the support community-- this community is for discussing Teams usage tips and likely won't be seen by Microsoft. I have this same issue and it causes me problems regularly-- we should contribute to this post https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/macos-teams-main-window-not-current-meetings/8237ced4-994e-48c9-b1fb-c093acd8276b to get it addressed.

This drives me crazy multiple times a day. Unbelievably bad UX.

The only workaround is to hit CMD + ` every time I go back to Teams during a meeting. This is an unbelievably bad UX decision by the Microsoft team and should have been fixed months ago

Any updates on getting rid of the main window? It unnecessarily clutters the desktop

is there a way go get rid of the main window altogether?

This seems so easy to fix and I really need a solution. This has cost me business.

I am experiencing the same issue too. Isn't resolved yet. The only workaround at this point seems to be using the cmd+tab (⌘ + ↹) shortcut (instead of using the mouse) and switch to the Teams window at which point it retains the window which was last used (if its the Teams call, it'll show that)

I have the same issue. I also opened the settings window earlier in the day. Now, even after clicking X, any time I switch applications and come back, it opens the settings rather than the meeting I'm on. This is a stupidly infuriating problem!

I've been struggling with that for quite a while as well! The most disappointing thing in all of that it's that it worked up to some Teams version differently, i.e. as expected - bringing the meeting window on top when clicking the Teams icon in Dock - so I'm waiting for the change in every Teams update since then, but it's not returning back to the normal behavior.
