When using the search function in Teams chat, is there a way to see more than just one specific message (I would like to see the response to the message)? For example, I searched for a question that I asked someone but I want to know what their response was. Right now I can only see the question I asked. Here is a screenshot. In my opinion, we should be able to navigate through the conversation after searching.

Jason Drew Very far from a perfect solution, but I did find a way to use Keyword Query Language that returns results in a way that's a bit more meaningful. After you're able to identify the person and date of the conversation you want to review, perform a search like this: (Sent:2019-11-13 From:Karen) OR From:Brian Sent:2019-11-13 The returned results on the left include all messages from me (Karen) or Brian on 11/13/19, in order of message timestamp. Not perfect, but better than scrolling through months' worth of chats.

There is a workaround:- Make the search as usual and identify the chat in which you see the search results you're looking for.- Pop out that chat to its separate window- Do the search again in the main window.- Clicking "Go to message" will now take you to the pop-out chat and show it in its context. I forgive Microsoft for this poor implementation since it's an indie start-up tech company.

soundcon Well, this is DAY 1,082 (almost THREE YEARS) since this thread was started with no feedback from Microsoft, no implementation/fix date, dozens and dozens of users complaining about the same issue over and over. Microsoft either doesn't care about their users (customers), don't have the technical ability to fix it, or don't ever tune into their own support forums. Then again my money would be on all three. Engineering here is pushing IT to dump Teams at work and go back to Slack, mainly for this issue. I think we have a better chance of doing that then we do of Microsoft fixing this.

Weird. I was encountering this issue where there is zero context shown around the chat message search result.
I then went to the chat log with that person and scrolled for 5 minutes until I found the date with the message.
Then I did the exact same search again, and this time when going to the result, it showed the full chat context.
It's like the search result has to be in recent cache in order to properly navigate to it.

  This is absolutely horrible, I chat with a colleague everyday and I am looking for a message from more than 6 months ago. The scrolling is taking forever.

Jason Drew I have just came up against this issue as well and found this post whilst searching for a solution. Has anyone any indication of what is happening or a link to a uservoice? Really is annoying that I cans see part of the conversation but can't see the rest which contains what I am looking for.

  Scott Preston The search now works properly for me. I can search a keyword and it just takes me to that place in the conversation.

  Not sure they heard out loud and clear VasilMichev still seems to be the same. I cant jump to a message in a search of chat with a user

    I'm being frustrated here at work as I am not able to jump to a conversation from the search window. Microsoft please fix it.

  VasilMichev While I apprecaiate your optimism, it's now over 3 years later and Teams will still not let you view more than one message after doing a search. How hard is it to add a "jump to message" option from there so you can get some context? It's really pathetic how long it takes them to get around to such simple fix. They probably still use Webex up there in WA.

    The workaround for first popping out the chat of the person you are wanting to search, then going back and searching and clicking on the result does work. Very stupid.
