Teams Improvement Opportunity

Let me open with how I feel Teams has been a highly valuable tool during this time of uncertainty and chaos. However, I have noticed in the past few weeks that functionalities that have been deemed "non-essential" have been cut from this solution.  For example; You used to be able to view and edit Word documents and OneNote pages right in the Teams app interface.  Now, you only have read only capabilities and have to open the document in its native app.  I have also noticed that a couple of my tabs I created for app plug-ins have simply disappeared.

I would like to take this opportunity, as a Healthcare IT professional to strongly express that I feel reducing any kind of functionality with Teams is a huge mistake. Millions of people are now working remotely for the first time and will come to rely on products such as Teams to help them collaborate together and stay connected.  Microsoft, this is a huge opportunity for you to market this product to your clients, but you will not be able to successfully do that by actively limiting features that greatly improve the user experience.  I highly recommend that you focus as many resources as is possible to enhancing this tool to its maximum capabilities.  Now is the time when people need this product the most and will be less resistant to on-boarding.  Thank you for your attention, and stay healthy.

  • I Agree with you that limiting features isn’t optimal but they are temporarily and due to exactly what you mention, the high sudden load because of covid-19. Hopefully back soon when MS has scaled the infrastructure enough
