"Share system audio" in a Teams meeting has disappeared

Hi, does anyone know what happened to the "share system audio" button in Teams meetings? It was there last week when I led a meeting, but when I had a meeting today it was gone. I haven't changed my audio settings and have been using the same computer.

Documentation for this feature:

Seems someone else has the same issue this week:

Still the same issue, no option to share system audio for Mac Web as of July 2022.

Hobyvh I think that is more Apple's fault than Microsoft's. They make it ridiculously difficult to route system audio back into their OS.

        I think it's fixed.

It's on the "share content" dialog now (when you click the share screen icon). There's a little toggle at the top that says "share computer sound."

bynum It's very frustrating that Microsoft stopped to support sharing audio from a Mac. I just saw this article (Jan 2021) and it looks like this feature is now available in the "public preview" version. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/share-sound-from-your-computer-in-a-teams-meeting-or-live-event-dddede9f-e3d0-4330-873a-fa061a0d8e3b

I tried to update my Teams software and it doesn't work. I can't get that preview version, which is supposed to support that feature again. In the Office 365 Admin Center, there is a toggle to enable "preview features" in Teams. It's enabled, but it doesn't change anything. I contacted support, I hope they will be able to help. But it's great to see that Microsoft finally did something. You can also see the release note here (look for Version 2101: January 13) => https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/current-channel-preview

I hope Microsoft will support virtual cameras soon. All other video-related software supports virtual cameras, except Teams for Mac. That would allow people to use software like OBS, to have better visual (green screen, banners, logo, etc.).

The option is back! Yeah! I think there is a delay between when we activate the toggle in the Admin Center, and when Teams realizes it should propose the option. I restarted Teams a couple of times, and I saw the "preview" option in the "About" menu. I did a quick test, sharing my screen with audio, and it seems to work (at first view), but I'll do more tests to make sure everything is good.

Note that the version number will remain the same. I still see version 1.3.00.33671 (2021-01-04), but in the About menu, I see "Public Preview" and "Developer Preview", and both options are checked.

Thanks Will for the info. I always use the Teams client, which should be better than the browser version, as it can access all computer's resources. I'll give it a try (web version), to see if it works. I hope Microsoft will enable that feature in the client version.

Yes.  I can share my screen, but the toggle for share system audio has disappeared. Thanks MS.  That kinda messed up my lessons today.

bynum Any luck getting your audio back on with shared screen?  I am attempting to teach and no longer have sound. Any ideas?

Have you lost the tick box to share audio, or is your audio just not working?

Are you using the app or the browser version of Teams?

bynum I had a problem with this and discovered that the share system audio doesn't exist on the web version, but does in the desktop app.  This might not be your problem, but if it is, it is a simple fix

bvallisdhsfg I'm no longer having this problem but I think folks who use Macs are still unable to share their system audio as of today (5/14/20).

Thank you for the question and the response. We have an important meeting with a prospect and want to use Teams. The button was gone and now because of this thread, I look like a hero! You are the hero. We do nothing alone.

    Thank you so much,

    /Dave
