No longer getting popup call notifications

Hello everyone,

As of a couple of days ago, I ran into an issue where when someone calls me in Teams I can hear the phone ringing, but I don't get a notification or anything to click on to accept the call.

I have to physically go through my team's chat list and check each person and in the upper right-hand corner if that person happens to be calling me I will be shown an option to accept the call.

I normally only get calls from a couple of people so it has not been too bad as I just bounce between the two people who normally call me and see which one is showing these buttons, but today near the end of my shift I was getting calls from other teammates I don't normally hear from and I had to wait until the call timed out so I could go into the call history to see who was trying to call me.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone know how I would fix this?

This is what I am no longer seeing. I had a team member take a screenshot of me calling them.

Thank you for any help you can provide!
Have a great weekend!

p.s I did check Focus Assist in windows and I am not running that. I am also not running quiet hours either.
The only thing I can think of is I did just recently update to Windows 10 Ver. 20H2

  • Eelco1978  I've had an update from Microsoft that it should be patched this weekend 21/11/2020. Here's a link to the Teams user voice site that shows that lots of people are having the same issue, Micosoft are working on it. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports I've found installing the older version is a work round till the fix is sorted.

ChuckCoggins just had this happen with one of our users and they had accidentally turned on the "Quiet Hours" on their laptop.  This prevented the Teams call notifications just as you had described.

Eelco1978 I did not do anything special to get mine working again.
I think it's a bug honestly and the post above this says MS is aware of the issue and is patching it.

The only thing I did was I have a triple monitor setup. My middle monitor where all those notifications come from is usually covered by a remote desktop session so I can remote into my Work PC.

I unlocked my taskbar with the notifications and I moved that taskbar over to my left monitor hoping that the notifications would display over there instead.

This did not end up working, as the notifications still display on the middle monitor, but my call notifications all of a sudden did start showing up again.

I couldn't tell you if this was a coincidence or if moving it helped.

ChuckCoggins I'm having the same problem... and have had a couple of updates to Teams which haven't fixed it.  If I ALT TAB when a call is incoming I can see the calling window as a thumbnail and can see who is calling, but if I then switch to that window nothing loads.  Basically the incoming call window refuses to open and doesn't show as active in the task bar either.

Hope this gets fixed soon, very annoying.

Same issue for me as well as reported by sholpp :

Using Teams version 1.3.00.33674 (64-bit) and usually working via a Remote Desktop Connection opened via Citrix Workspace version 20.10.0.20 for Client work. I hear the calling sound in Teams and I also get the call on my iPhone with the Teams app installed, but on my windows 10 laptop there is no possibility to accept the call via the pop up or in the Teams application. My workaround in the past was to check who is calling on my iPhone, then searching the last chat in Teams with this contact on my laptop, then on the top right I was able to accept the call using the accept button. This workaround is not working anymore since the voice and video call buttons in the chat on the top right changed from the circular shape to the rectangular shape.
My coworkers are reporting the same issue.

    Hello Everybody,

we have the same problem with Teams since update version 1.3.00.28779.

Older clients versions don't have this problem.

Clear teams cache, reinstall and taskbar moving doesn't help.

    Any ideas

    Best regards

Same here with Teams Version 1.3.00.28779 notifications not showing up in front of other windows we have to minimize everything to answer the call.

Around lunchtime today I was reading about this issue it seemed to be pretty common back in 2018ish.

One of the members posted something to try about moving the notification window from your main screen to a second monitor if you are running remote sessions and have your main window always covered up.

So I decided to try this.
I unlocked my taskbar and moved my main screen taskbar (that contains all my notifications and hidden icons) to my left monitor and relocked it.

I got a call about 30 mins later and the dumb notification thing started working again, but it displayed on my middle (main) monitor like always and not over on the left monitor like I was thinking it might lol.. So I have no freaking clue.

The other weird thing that happened and I have never seen happen is I have teams on my Android phone as well and I was now being notified on my phone that a call was incoming.

It is working for now, but I have no idea why.
