Mouse button 'Back/Forward' not working in 'New Teams'
Though there are options to 'pop out' windows from Teams, Teams is a generally a single page app.
As such, one of my most used features in 'Classic Teams' is switching back 'n forth between several 'tabs' I'm currently working with. Say I've got somebody on chat, but then have to quickly check something in Teams, then go back to chat.
In Classic Teams this works just fine using the mouse's back & forward buttons.
In 'New' Teams, this no longer registers any action at all.
I assume the feature still exists, since left of the search bar there are still the back/forward UI buttons.
But moving the mouse over for every time you need to switch back and forth is a lot slower and less intuitive than just using the mouse buttons.
Current behavior: Mouse 'back'/'forward' buttons do not work in 'New Teams'
Expected behavior: Mouse 'back/forward' buttons register the 'back' and 'forward' navigation commands as they did in 'Classic' Teams

Microsoft
Probably better to vote on the Teams feedback site, such as on this ticket: Mouse Button Navigation in New Teams · Community
(Note that I work at Microsoft, but not on Teams. I am interested in this feature as a user of Teams.)

Link seems to be broken. :( It returns a 404.

2025 and still the same issue.
I've found that the forward/back buttons are both acting as Left Click for most things, and for the [ < & > ] UI buttons they BOTH act as Right Click. Teams is the only application that doesn't acknowledge my Mouse's settings from [LogiOptions+].@microsoftsupport where are you?
- therremansCopper ContributorI work in IT and my users are not happy about losing this basic functionality.
But this was expected.. it's Microsoft. You would have thought this would have been caught and fixed in the early beta versions. - bongwater_teaCopper Contributor
I, too, have created an account just to nudge this thread.
I'm quite certain that the New Teams is the ONLY application in my daily workflow that does not support the use of navigation via the mouse buttons.
In fact, I'm still sticking it out with the old Teams, even now, solely due to the fact that I am much more efficient with the working mouse buttons.
Plz fix- RobDL13Copper ContributorSame here! Bonkers this has gone away. I've found a workaround, but only for using my Logitech mouse. In the Logi Options+ app, you can set application specific button actions. I've now set Teams to use the back/forward buttons to be assigned to `Alt`+`L` / `R` which is the Teams Keyboard shortcut.

RobDL13 Since my reply earlier, I have used AutoHotKey with my mouse and this simple script:
XButton1::
Send !{Left}
returnXButton2::
Send !{Right}
return
Should work with any mouse as long as you have rights to install the AHK scripting language.
Might break some other programs that do not recognize the `Alt`+`L` / `R` though.
- hammn1Copper Contributoralso created an account to request this functionality be restored.
- MikeR1095Copper ContributorSeems like a very simple functionality to add, it's astounding we're still waiting on this. Adding my voice to the crowd.
- lasagnamanCopper Contributorhi there bing image creator is flaggin me tyoing in minnie mouse can you possibly remove that flag also if i type in celebrities
- lasagnamanCopper ContributorHi there can bing image creator is flagging me when i type in minnie mouse can you help with that
- biognomeCopper ContributorThe company I work for just updated to the "New" Teams, but removing the back/forward button navigation doesn't feel like a shiny new thing at all. We use Teams heavily for interoffice communication, and removing the ability to easily go back or forth with a mouse click seems counterintuitive. I predict a lot of unhappy users.
- TimKaneCopper ContributorI am now one of those unhappy users. Is this even the correct forum for bug reports/feature suggestions, or are we shouting into the ether?

Same issue here. Also I believe it worked with 'new' teams before new year? Or have I lost my mind navigating through different versions.
They also have a new shortcut for navigating back and forth: Alt+left and right arrows. But the mouse keys are just baked into muscle memory for my part KevinVP
