Migrating from SfB 2015 to MS Teams

We are trying to migrate from SfB 2015 to Ms Teams with my client, all prerequisites have been set up and when using the powershell Move-CsUser command, we get an error message:

So we followed the recommendations and installed the CU12 update but it crashed the server and impossible to start the SfB services ๐Ÿ˜ž

is there another way to migrate without going through this update? by removing the msRTCSIP attributes for example? users are already using the Teams client for more than 1 year so the meetings are already in Teams.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Noureddine

  • Hi Noureddine,

If the users are already using Microsoft Teams Online are you in Island mode or are you on Teams Only mode in the Teams Admin Center. I wanted to understand the overall architecture before I recommend the solution.

Additionally what is the reason why you want to move the users from SFB 2015 to Teams is it due that we are trying to migrate our telephony?

      Hi Satish,

At first I thank you for taking the time to answer me !

yes the coexistence mode is Island.

I went ahead on my own and decided to migrate 5 users to the pilot.

by removing the MSRTCSIP attributes, keeping only those highlighted in yellow and having replaced the SRV value with sipfed.online.lync.com.

yes we move the telephony to Teams in Direct routing.

      • Hi,

The migration from the SFB 2015 will only be successful if the users values are intact and hybrid is built between SFB onpremises and Microsoft Teams. Since you are users are already in the Cloud I would recommend to configure the Direct Routing using the SBC and provide the users with the Telephony from the cloud instead of on-premises Cloud. As there would be conflict or users while you try to migrate the users with the users already in the cloud.
