Meeting recordings _ Client bas blocked OneDrive
Currently with Teams meeting recording is a user does not have a Stream licence then the recording will be stored in Azure for 21 days.
Quote 'Users won't need a Microsoft Stream license assigned if you want users to only record and download the recordings. This will mean that the recordings aren't stored in Microsoft Stream but are instead stored in Azure Media Services (AMS) with a 21-day limit before it's deleted. It's not something at this point that an admin can control or manage including the ability to delete it.'
Will this temporary recording option still apply when the storage options move to OneDrive and SharePoint?
I am working with a client who is cloud adverse and want to start with Teams by using Teams for meetings first rather than any of the other functionality. They have a need to be able record some meetings. However they do not want to enable OneDrive at this point. If the temporary option will remain then this is not a problem as users can download and store the recording in their current data stores.
The Microsoft docs do not mention what will happen.
Deleted Yes, Azure Media Services will still be used for the recording and then it will be uploaded to OneDirve or SharePoint if possible. If it is not possible, due to license or something else, the recording will be downloadable from AMS. So it is just the final storage that is changes from Stream to OneDrive/SharePoint.
- Hello, my understanding is that this will be possible until all customers automatically switch over (no matter current setting). My reason to believe this is the fact that the lack of Stream license creates the current behavior but later that won’t be an issue.

It was about whether the option to download recording from Azure Media Services (AMS) (with a 21-day limit before it's deleted) still be available if the user does not have a SharePoint online licence so no OneDrive or has OneDrive blockedDeleted My apologies. In my defense your reply was much more direct and understandable.
I did some reading just now and this great piece (for ex.) pretty much sums it up. At least you get the picture how it will work "Stream will continue to use Azure Media Services and other Azure services to process videos to generate playback files suitable for different devices and formats and to generate the automatic captions and video transcript. It’s only the storage that changes."
