How to use the new Chats & Channels experience in Teams

When I turn this on in teams for Mac, I can create sections in both my Teams and my Chats tabs individually but can't find a view that combines the two.
When my co-worker turns on this feature on a windows machine she gets a combined view.
I can't seem to find any documentation of how to use this feature outside of this thread.
Is the shared view coming soon to mac as well?
