Desktop version not working: only online!

Hi everybody,

please help me.

I will have to defense my PhD thesis via Microsoft Teams but I have a problem. The Microsoft Teams doesn't work in the desktop version, but only in the online version, with some limitation. In fact, in the online version I can't see all the involved people videos at the same time: I can see only the speaking person. This is a problem for me, because I have to interact with many people at the same time. The desktop version, after the installation, starts fine. Unfortunately, as I start a call, or someone calls me, the app crashes.

My PC is Windows 8.1.

Thank you in advance.

  • I everybody, I fixed the issue by updating windows from 8.1 to 10 (I had a license).

    Hope this would help!

    Thank you

    Hi D4niela

maybe you can try to uninstall Teams and delete the files and folders in the following locations followed by a fresh install:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Teams\

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\TeamsMeetingAddin

    %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams

    %LocalAppData%\SquirrelTemp

You can enter those names directly in the address bar in the explorer and then delete the files/folders from there.

    Regards,

    Paul

      Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, I followed you suggestions and re-installed the desktop version, but as I start a call, it crashes and restart itself.

      Any other solution?

        Haven’t seen this behavior myself.
I could think of a driver issue or may be the firewall.

What setup are you using? Laptop with integrated camera? Are you using a headset? What devices have you configured in Teams? Does the behavior change if you unplug them or change devices in Teams settings?

Does it also crash if you make a test call in the teams audio/video settings? How to do this is also mentioned in the link above.
