Classic Teams Version 1.6.00.33862 (64-bit) last updated on 12/6/2023 breaks video feed

Hello,

On the last Teams update on 6th December 2023 my video is no longer working.

If I'm using the "new Teams" the video is working just fine. In other applications Webex/Zoom the video is working fine. In the web version of Teams video is working fine... only in "classic Teams" is no longer working.

Unfortunately, because of missing options from "new Teams" I'm forced to use "classic Teams" and is very annoing that video is no longer working.

I have even tried to reinstall Teams app and also the "classic one"...

I have removed the %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams folder

Updated the Teams to the last version 1.6.00.34456 (64-bit) (last updated on 13.12.2023) but still the video could not be started. It only shows a "black screen".

Any thoughts? or any way to clean any Teams traces in files/registry to have a "clean install"?

Kind Regards,

Lucian

welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Recep I'll be happy to help you today.

I understand that classic teams break video feed. I suggest you try the following.

    1.  Please make sure your Teams and System are up to date.

    2.  Go to Windows Settings > Privacy > Camera and check whether the option Allow apps to your camera and Allow desktop apps to your camera are turned on.

    3.  Please check whether you can have a video call in https://teams.microsoft.com/.

    4.  Update all of your drivers. To do that, the steps are as follows:

      a. Right click on Starthttps://filestore.community.support.microsoft.com/api/images/519176c3-e5df-4873-9d7e-ff1543345665?upload=true button and select Device Manager.

      b. In Device Manager, under Cameras, right-click on your camera/webcam from the list and select Update driver.

      c. You may find a pop-up window will appear that asks whether to Search automatically for the updated driver software or Browse my computer for driver software. You can choose the first one. If any driver updates are available, it will be automatically installed.

    Also Disable GPU hardware acceleration

      Hello Deleted ,

And thank you for your time.

My system, Teams and drivers (nVidia) are up to date and web version of Teams is also working without any problem.

My privacy camera settings allow both "Microsoft Teams (work or school)" and from section "Let desktop apps access your camera" also the "Microsoft Teams classic". I have even switched them off and on again because I have found some articles recommending this.

About "disabling GPU hardware acceleration", I don't know how this would help or how to do this only on "Classic Teams" as web Teams is working, "new Teams" is also working and all the other "meeting applications" have no issues... so the problem is related directly/only to "classic Teams" app where no preiew available (even in meeting)

      Any other ideas?

      Kind Regards,

      Lucian

Thank you very much for your email response.

         . Disable GPU Hardware acceleration
          1. In Teams, click your icon/photo.
          2. Choose Settings.
          3. In Settings, in tab general, enable Disable GPU hardware acceleration.
          4. While you're here, also disable Register Teams as the chat app for Office…
          5. Restart Teams. Please note that Teams runs in the background.
