Apple AirPods

We have a complaint that the DM is having audio issues in video meetings via teams.  Following investigation i can see that its not a teams issue as all other members of the meeting are fine.  But he is using Apple products to connect ( ipad, macbook, and iphone) and all with Air Pods.  My initial response is to stop using air pods but i would first like to see if others are having similar issues or have experienced problems with air pods... Can i tell them in good confidence that AirPods should not be used with Teams.  I know they are not supported audio devices.

  • What kind of problems do they experience? Quality or that they don't get any sound?

I would say that you can in good confidence say to users not to use supported devices. Okay if they are working okay they could continue using them but now when it is a problem with them they should try something supported.

I've been in meetings with users using air pods and they pickup surrounding sounds but they work okay.

I guess you have seen this page.

      • You can technically use any audio device, but using airpods as a communication device isn't the greatest, and it's not the first time I've heard people complain about using them.

They most definatley are not "Teams Certified" but any communication device can technically work. The problem you will run into is, they will probably say they use them fine with some other app.

Maybe have the user use his mobile device with the airpods to connect to the meetings? Or is that how he is connecting? Or is it through his PC?
