Any chance the email is being encrypted before arriving for forwarding? Or some kind of message policy is being applied restricting the option to forward the attachment?

we discovered the issue is caused by one MS security patch dated 10 Jan.

the issue only occur when the user used the copier machine to scan document to email in pdf format.

after uninstalling the patch the issue dont occur any more

We are having the same thing run through domain computers.  Assumed AV but un-installation is not fixing the issue.  It appears to be specifically when a plan text email is viewed before forwarding, either through the preview pane or by double clicking.   If the user right-clicks and forwards the email without previewing it the it forwards correctly.  If viewed first, all attachments disappear.  First case reported yesterday and more are coming in, very odd issue.

  • Most likely some add-in or the AV is interfering. Try running Outlook in safe mode (hold the CTRL key while launching it or type 'Outlook /safe' in the run box) and see if the issue still happens. In addition, disable AV and other types of scanning software. Lastly, check if the user can reproduce the issue from OWA (the webmail).
