While having data files stored in the cloud should eliminate many of the headaches of moving data from obsolete media, I would advise a client with that requirement to plan on implementing an archive management strategy that they can control. This would probably require multiple technologies and multiple vendors. Relying on one vendor, such as MS, would not be prudent. There are too many variables and uncertanties over long periods of time.
