For this type of Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration, the SysInfo Microsoft 365 Tenant to Tenant Migration tool can be used to migrate OneDrive data from the source tenant to the target tenant. It allows administrators to map source and destination users and transfer OneDrive files before switching the custom domain.
A safer sequence is to first create the target users with their .onmicrosoft.com UPNs, migrate and verify the OneDrive data, and then detach the custom domain from the source tenant and attach it to the target tenant. This keeps the domain transfer separate from the actual data migration and reduces the risk of data loss.
