Everything being re-labelled as d.docs.drive and not saving on OneDrive
I dont know what/how it happened, but one day, all my files stopped automatically saving to my OneDrive.
Now, every single file, as soon as I open it, will be re-labelled as d.docs.live.net and then eventually a number in brackets ie (56).
Even if I resave the file as a copy, it keeps happening.
I have tried every fix I can find online. I have cleared my credential manager, unlinked and uninstalled OneDrive and then reinstalled and relinked everything, I have chosen somewhere else on my PC for my OneDrive files to save (so now I have 2 copies of everything on my PC).
I'm at my wits end with this. Its so frustrating every single time I try and do any work, this is a problem.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue or somewhere I can go for help?

_ChloeA I am currently experiencing the exact same issue and it is so infuriating and frustrating. (October 2024). I still do not know how to fix it even after all the replies below.
- sierra-upsteam-1999Copper ContributorI totally understand your pain; I dealt with a similar issue when OneDrive just stopped syncing my files. I found that checking the sync settings in the OneDrive app really helped, as it sometimes gets stuck pointing to the wrong folder. I also had to make sure my Office apps were set to save directly to OneDrive instead of my local drive. It was a bit of a hassle, but resetting those settings did the trick for me.
- _ChloeACopper Contributor@sierra-upstream-1999 how did you check your synch settings and that the apps were set to save to your one drive? I played around with it so much today and didn't have much luck finding any of these options!

Hi _ChloeA,
I don't know if you had already found a solution (before my answer).
I experienced the same issue the last weeks... and I solved it by myself just yesterday (because I didn't found any solutions)!
The issue was, for me, that I had a folder named "Documents" in the OneDrive default folder named "Documents"... Since I'd renamed my folder, the issue disappeared. I mean, my documents are automatically saved again (without renaming by d.doc.live.net) and I can acces to my documents from my phone.
Hope it can help you (or others who have the same thing)! 🙂

guillaumevrgh This also fixed it for me - I simply renamed Documents\Documents to Documents\My Documents and the problem seems to have disappeared, having driven me mad for months. It is a really an appalling bug that Microsoft really ought to fix - ARE YOU LISTENING MICROSOFT???
On top of that, my AutoSave options seem to be working properly now too. I can't turn on AutoSave for an encrypted file (does anyone know why that is??) but at least it now tells me why I can't, which it also didn't do before the folder rename. Go figure!!
- GNFB-Copper ContributorNo, I don't think Microsoft are listening, which is pretty silly of them as they could then know of this solution instead of going round the houses without any real idea of what they are doing. I have been corresponding with Microsoft OneDrive support for months before this.
- abitmutchCopper ContributorCame here with this very issue and I am glad to say that this fix worked for me as well!
- _ChloeACopper Contributor@guilaumevrgh I wish this fixed it! I don't have a folder called documents within the folder so I don't think that's it! Thanks though. Glad it was able to resolve the situation for you!

_ChloeA I have been having this same problem for months now and nobody has provided a satisfactory answer. We cannot possibly be the only ones. I always used OneDrive as my default and everything always saved correctly with the right names before this nonsense started. I can't think of anything I did to set it off. I can't believe that there isn't a simple solution and frankly Microsoft themselves should be providing the answer.
- BrianH170Copper ContributorI guess this was never sorted exactly the same symptoms........occurring August 2024.
Somehow related to OneDrive settings perhaps.....frustrating yes....I was using field filename now reverting to hardcopy entry. Cant seem to get Word to provide filename name in Word banner at page top....never seen this fail since I first used Word 6. programmer error or strange virus suspected.- GNFB-Copper Contributor
BrianH170 No this has never been sorted. Microsoft Support have answered but not come up with a solution. I can't help feeling that it should be something very simple. Perhaps it is too simple for the geeks to comprehend?
Very frustrating. Basically makes OneDrive fairly useless. I am probably going to resort to backing up to a hard drive. At present saving to my computer, and can then copy back onto OneDrive, which works with the same name but can't open a file from OneDrive without it doing this d.docs bit.
