Disabling certain MFA methods
Hi,
I am new to M365. Some of our users have set up MFA already. One method they use is "email OTP". When in Entra Admin Center I see the Authentication methods. Trying to disable EMail OTP is not possible, because the save button is greyed out. What is the reason for that? Could it be that because some users already using this method? What do I need to do to resolv this?
- heinzelrumpelCopper ContributorHad to choose "all groups" to disable that function
- Email OTP is only available as method for self-service password reset, not MFA. But you already figured out how to disable it anyway 🙂
- AlikocIron ContributorHi,
In response to the scenario you shared, the issue you're experiencing where the "Save" button is greyed out when trying to disable Email OTP in Entra Admin Center might indeed be related to a few factors.
For example,
If users are actively using Email OTP as their multi-factor authentication (MFA) method, you might not be able to disable it directly without first updating or changing the MFA settings for those users. This could be why the save button is greyed out.
And, Ensure you have the appropriate administrative permissions to modify authentication methods. You may need to be a Global Administrator or Authentication Administrator in your tenant to make changes to MFA settings.
If you can return by testing these two issues, we can come up with solutions.
Best Regards,
