365 App Sign in & Edit Issues

Hello, I am attempting to edit a word document saved on OneDrive. I have the 365 app. The document opens and states I cannot edit unless I sign in. When clicking to sign it, it then states it cannot put my personal email (which is what the subscription is under) I need to put a work or school email and if it doesn't work then to contact said work or school. However, my subscription is my personal email and I am logged into the app with my personal email. I'm confused and need support please! 

Exact wording opening document: 

"This account does not allow editing on your device. For an account with full access, contact your organizational out your subscription plan" 

**For reference: I have frequently used my android phone for editing documents

Exact wording when signing in: 

"We couldn't find a work or school account with that email address" 

  • Try below before contact Microsoft Support:

     

    1. Check Your Subscription: Ensure that your Microsoft 365 subscription is active and associated with your personal email. Sometimes, issues can arise if the subscription has expired or if there's a problem with the account.
    2. Sign Out and Sign In Again: Try signing out of the Microsoft 365 app on your device and then signing back in with your personal email. This can sometimes resolve account-related issues.
    3. Clear Cache: Clear the cache of the Microsoft 365 app on your device. This can help resolve any temporary issues that might be causing the problem.
    4. Use Office for the Web: If the issue persists, try editing the document using Office for the web. You can access it by logging into OneDrive with your personal email and opening the document from there.
