Locked out because of bugged 2FA
Hello,
I have one irritating problem.
I did a reset of my microsoft authenticator app since it stopped working, i did not save the Authenticators security code, i got 2FA activated on my account.
Now i have been trying to log in on my microsoft account for one month without succes.
The 3 options i have for 2FA is
Code to external my gmail - This works 2 times a day, then locked for 24h
Code by text to my cellphone - This does not work when trying to log in, i get the error "Try another verification method, this method does not work at the moment". I know it works, its just in the combination with 2FA it wont work.
Microsoft Authenticator - I cannot log into this one since the textmessage does not work on 2FA-login.
I have been in a loop for the last month, i cant log into my ordinary e-mail, xbox and so on. Im still logged in on my computer and cellphone at the moment but im afraid it will time out very soon.
Microsoft support says that they cannot do anything about it, it is only a server doing all the security.
I cant remove 2FA on the account im still logged into, i need 2FA for that.
Help!

I have exactly the same problem...
Yesterday, I'm the process of configuring a new laptop I opted to update my Microsoft 365 business password.
I did this with no issues but ...next time I logged in, I was asked for the Authenticator code.
I have the Authenticator with my Microsoft 365 profile but never used it before. The Authenticator code never appeared.
When requested a code to my cellphone, I got the same message that the system is not working.
In a few minutes, all pages that were still logged in were (on my original laptop) were logges out. So, I have no access whatsoever
Tried to call Microsoft support numbers, but it is just an automated call that sends you back to online resources. So, desde wnd
I am my companies Admin and really don't know what to do....
Any ideas ?
Is there anyone from Microsoft here that can tell me were I can speak with a rela person and sort this out ?
Are you still logged in? If yes, please try:
- Generate New Recovery Codes
- Go to Microsoft Security Settings while signed in.
- Try accessing Advanced Security Options.
- If you can get in, look for Recovery Codes or App Passwords.
- Save them somewhere safe—these can help bypass 2FA in future logins.
- Add a New Authenticator Method
- Add a new phone number or email as a backup.
- Try re-adding Microsoft Authenticator with a fresh setup.
- Turn Off 2FA (If Possible)
- Navigate to Security > Two-Step Verification.
- If you're allowed to disable it while signed in, do so temporarily to regain full access.

Hello Kidd_Ip
To be able to open the security page you need to use 2FA, even when logged in.
Its a dead end
