1803 (Targeted)?
1803 build 17134 is now available Did it release as Semi-annual (Targeted) or Semi-annual? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows-10/release-information will it be the approximately 4 months before my rings begin to defer it as semi-annual or are they going to start installing it now if on the semi-annual branch???SolvedWilliam GoldenMay 07, 2018Copper Contributor11KViews0likes32CommentsJanuary 2022 Quality Update Breaks VPN Connections
A couple forum posts: https://community.meraki.com/t5/Security-SD-WAN/Client-VPN-Error-After-January-Windows-Updates/m-p/137114 https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/s1oqv8/kb5009543_january_11_2022_breaks_l2tp_vpn/ These clearly outline the issue with the latest updates breaking VPN connectivity for many Meraki VPN systems (and perhaps others). Rolling back the update resolves the issue. A couple questions for the Windows update team: 1. Any idea when Microsoft will be able to review, confirm and correct this issue? 2. If Microsoft were to release a fix for this part way through the month, how would you typically recommend this get deployed? Windows update for Business doesn't allow us to control/deploy anything other than the Feature and Quality updates. Is the recommendation to just remain unpatched until the February Quality update catches things up and presumably includes a fix for the VPN issue?SolvedBrianG-PPNJan 12, 2022Brass Contributor57KViews10likes31CommentsPeople are still using Windows 7 with happines but there is nobody to help them nowadays!
Millions of Windows 7 users are still enjoying this operating system which is a fact. But sadly said, thanks to zero Microsoft support this OS became vulnerable to outside attacks causing BLUE SCREEN to appear more than often... People are using their old computers for many years, people love their old computers and people don't want to bin their beloved ones just because Windows 7 is the last OS to be able to use... Our old Windows 7 computers are working fast and except for internal problems with zero fixing by Microsoft company, there is nothing else so bad... We, the old chaps on Windows 7 computers deserve a bit more support from Microsoft company the same way as the pensioners in care houses are getting help from society... Microsoft company, you might consider how to help us to fix the Windows 7 vulnerabilities so that we could carry on using our beloved ones.. Thank you in advance....donecekJul 24, 2022Copper Contributor4.5KViews3likes27CommentsUpdated for 20H2: Windows 10 gets better with every release
With each release, Windows 10 improves from a security, productivity, and manageability perspective. But the underlying message, and what makes it all possible, is the agility and unbelievable engineering innovation that simplifies the servicing process for the IT Pro. Delivering on my promise to make it a habit to share the better together slides with each release, the version attached to this post covers IT innovations through Windows 10, version 20H2--and the end of service (EOS) date for each feature set so you don't get too close to hitting EOS for any of the devices in your estate. Stay tuned for the next update!Dave_BackmanOct 12, 2020Former Employee15KViews8likes27CommentsWhy have all Microsoft download links for wushowhide.diagcab been broken for many months?

Today we had high amount of service desk calls about users cannot login to their device due to "wrong" password. It turned out that UK keybaord layout has been set somehow and cannot be switched to something else while the users themsleves have en-US layout "inside" the OS which is en-US as well. Before Logon; en-UK After Logon; en-US That cause some trouble with special characters in the password. The only thing we've seen is that March cumulative update KB5011487 and Update for 21H1 KB4023057 have been installed the day before. As an enterprise customer we cannot allow the users to have the Windows Store available, Windows Store for Business was a good solution on Windows 10 as we could fine grained offer certain apps. Windows 11 doesn't support it anymore, Joe's post from Mid of 2021 is outdated and vage about the future. If we block the store, the built-in apps won't upgrade anymore unless they are covered in cumulative updates. We cannot offer our favorite apps anymore. Offering such apps via Intune (synced from Windows Store for Business) requires co-managed devices managed by Intune (at least MECM app workload) but doesn't solve the app updates itself afterwards. Rigth now this is a show stopper to implement Windows 11 (we have 8000 comaptible devices) What is the roadmap for such sceanrio ?Olaf_ThyssenMar 17, 2022Brass Contributor20KViews2likes19CommentsWhy is a fresh Enterprise Evaluation installation license expired?
Hello, normally whenever I would install the Windows Enterprise Evaluation it would automatically activate the 90-day license. This has changed however as this time I did a fresh install (already tried both Windows 10 and 11) I get the Windows License is expired message in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The System->Activation menu says We can't activate Windows on this device right now. You can try activating again later or ... Error code: 0xC004C032. When I run slmgr /ato to activate I sometimes (not sure what the reason for change is - maybe this changed after I tried to change the product key to what I found supposedly is a "generic Enterprise key for recovery") get the same error as above - 0xC004C032 (running slui on that returns The activation server reported that new time based activation is not available) or 0x80072F8F (A security error occured). I read that syncing the date/time might be an issue but as far as I can tell its synced correctly with time.windows.com Any ideas about what the issue could be? Or has something changed in how activation works for evaluation distributions? Any input is appreciated ThanksJakub_PavlatAug 14, 2023Copper Contributor10KViews1like15CommentsMS Edge on chrome basis is too slow during the speed test in the download
With the Edge based on Chromium version 84.0.522.28 the download speed was 1.1 GBit. With the current version 84.0.522.44 the download rate has been halved. A test with the Opera browser always showed a download speed of 1.1 GBit!CharlyJul 26, 2020Copper Contributor5.6KViews0likes15CommentsConfused about Semi-Annual Channel (Pilot) and Semi-Annual Channel (Broad) Timing
So the pilot comes on on a March and September timing. So the first will be 1709. So right now the latest CB is 1703. Does it become the last CBB or the first Semi-Annual Channel (Broad)? Is the approximately four months between the release of a Semi-Annual Branch (Pilot) and the Semi-Annual Branch Channel (Broad)? Or are Semi-Annual Channel (Pilots) promoted to Semi-Annual Channel (Broads) on six month boundaries too? On the 18 months support? Is that measured against both channels or the first (Pilot)? As you throttle release (based on hardware), does 18 months come from the date first released for first hardware platform, or when available to all platforms?
