Welcome to the new Office End of Support community!
This community will provide a forum to discuss topics related to the end of support for all Office client products, including key dates to be aware of, recommended upgrade paths, support resources, and technical details spanning all affected audiences. Microsoft is dedicated to helping businesses and individuals succeed by empowering them to work together seamlessly, from anywhere. Most Microsoft products have support lifecycles during which we provide bug fixes and security fixes. The end of this lifecycle is known as the product's end of support. When a product reaches the end of support, Microsoft no longer provides the following: Technical support for issues Bug fixes for issues that are discovered Security fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered As end of support deadlines approach, Microsoft strongly recommends users shift to newer software to help them stay productive, safe, and at the forefront of digital transformation. As mentioned in the following article: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-end-of-support-blog/support-update-for-sharepoint-2010-workflows-in-microsoft-365/ba-p/1505453 Workflow 2013 will become deprecated in the near future. When workflow 2013 will reach end of support, does this also mean that the related content type 'Workflow Task (SharePoint 2013)' will be deleted? How will this work? This would not be desired in some cases, because maybe we would want the new power automate to use the same data structure for their tasks. In that case, we could still reuse the same content type which reduces the impact of the rework. Also, there is a lot of historical data for us in these workflow tasks (or a content type that inherits from 'Workflow Task (SharePoint 2013)'), deleting the content type would mess up this historical data. On October 13, we marked theend of support for Office 2010and Office 2016 for Mac. This means that we’ll no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or security updates for these products, and organizations that continue to use them may face increased security risks and compliance issues over time. The requirements for connecting to Office 365 serviceshave also changed—and customers will now need Microsoft 365 Apps, Office 2019, or Office2016toconnect to Office 365 serviceslike Exchange Online and SharePoint Online. While we will not take any active measures to block legacy versions of the Office client from connecting, these older clients will fall out of step with the service enhancements and may present performance and/or reliability issues over time. Read the full announcement of these changes here.Windows Server 2022 and M365
I'm looking at the Win and Office support matrix and Win Server 2022 and M365 Apps aren't supported. Can anyone explain why this is? It looks like Microsoft if going to remove the ability to host virtual desktop for clients and install M365 licensing on it. I assume in a push forcing people to use Azure.3.3KViews1like4CommentsAsk Microsoft Anything: Upcoming changes to Office support – September 9, 2020

I probably should have expected this to happen eventually. Been using MS office for longer than I can recall. Most recent is Office 2010 pro which my former client installed when I was consulting so I could be on same version since I was on 2007, they allowed me to keep when I had to leave due to wife’s relocation since I continued to do some remote work for them. But then medical issues, surgeries, and forced retirement hit and the cost to upgrade is just too high. So now into full retirement my monthly income is only enough for the bare minimum and I’m stuck with Office 2010 at EOL. It’s really a great thing MS caters to the education community with free or low cost deals. But I was an engineer with no ties to education. Meanwhile, I feel they have completely abandoned the retiring boomer generation that has made them wealthy and the powerhouse they are today. We are retiring and some of us have hit hard times. Guess it’s time to look at open source!2KViews0likes4CommentsMicrosoft Office 2016 Connections with Office 365 Services
In September of 2018, Jared Spataro, then corporate VP of Office and Windows marketing, had stated:"To give you more time to transition fully to the cloud, we are now modifying that policy and will continue to support Office 2016 connections with theOffice 365services through October 2023." Is that statement still correct - that is, Office 2016 users will still be able to connect with Office 365 services through October 2023?Solved1.9KViews0likes1Comment1 TB storage with subscription of Office 365 not assigned
I have had a subscription to Office 365 for over 5 years. Just received an email stating that my cloud storage (considerably less than 1 TB) was full. How do I set up the 1 TB cloud storage. Also, how do I set up saving files to my computer and not to One Drive.1.8KViews0likes3CommentsOffice 2010 support ended, but updates still released
On Docs page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/end-of-support-for-office-2010-3a3e45de-51ac-4944-b2ba-c2... it says that support ends in October. Yet i still see security updates released in November and December (WSUS). Why is that? Have you extended support without announcing that?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentNew and Improved Product Lifecycle Search

We have Office 365Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel 1902, which goes out of support onSeptember 8, 2020. After that date Microsoft have published that we will get no more Technical Support for issues, bug fixes or security fixes. However is there any published Microsoft information on connectivity to Office 365 Services? The only links I can find are ambiguous as to whether the "in mainstream support" phrase applies to Office 365 ProPlus or just Office Perpetual clients: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-365-blog/office-365-system-requirements-changes-for-office-client/ba-p/62327 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2018/09/06/helping-customers-shift-to-a-modern-desktop/1.3KViews0likes1CommentWelcome to the Upcoming Changes to Office Support AMA!

Hello, not sure this is the right place to post my question. What does the compatibility and regression testing process look like for third-party providers of Office 365 add-ins? How can we (as customers) be assured that add-ins won't break as we roll out each new feature update?1.1KViews0likes1CommentEnd of Support for Exchange Summary
Just a summary of some of the important things you might want to know about End of Supportfor all things Exchange. Exchange Server 2010 - We pushed the date for the end of extended support from Jan 2020 to October 2020, and announced that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/microsoft-extending-end-of-support-for-exchange-server-2010-to/ba-p/753591 We have no plans to extend that any further, so if you still have Exchange Server 2010 in use - you need to get moving. It won't stop working in October but we won't be releasing any more updates, security or time zone patches. We also recently posted information to help decommission Exchange 2010 once you have removed all the mailboxes and public folders - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/best-practices-when-decommissioning-exchange-2010/ba-p/1247559 Exchange Online and Basic Authentication is another important one to know about. We will be turning off Basic Authentication in Exchange Online in the future. If you hadn't heard about this take a look at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/improving-security-together/ba-p/805892 and that post will provide the background. What's changed most recently is we extended the timeline, and we talked about that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/basic-authentication-and-exchange-online-april-2020-update/ba-p/1275508 and we added OAuth 2.0 support to IMAP and SMTP AUTH and talked about that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/announcing-oauth-2-0-support-for-imap-and-smtp-auth-protocols-in/ba-p/1330432 Those are the big pieces of news, feel free to ask a question about any of that here, or once we're done, over in the Exchange Community.976Views5likes0Comments
