Skype for Business Online - End of Life - July 31, 2021
Today Microsoft announced that Skype for Business Online will be retiring on July 31, 2021. Though we didn’t know the exact date until today, we have been preparing for this for the past year and are ready to support you however we can as we work together to help you make this transition. We knew this was coming, we have been preparing for this for the past year, now we know the official date. We hope this does not come as a shock to you as MS Teams has taken center stage for Intelligent Communication and Modern Collaboration and Microsoft as an organization is not going to support Skype for Business (SfB) online in the long term. All of our investments and feature enhancements have been in Teams and Teams will continue to receive these investments for the future.
Setting External access options via powershell
Hi. I'm trying to set External access for Teams, but via powershell. Specifically the "Users can communicate with Skype users" option. I can successfully set the "Users can communicate with other Skype for Business and Teams users", but I can't find a solution for the other option ("Users can communicate with Skype users"). I have read numbers of blog postings, tutorials for the mentioned subject but it just doesn't work, the option won't switch. Most mentioned powershell command for doing it, is the following: Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnableOutsideAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnableFederationAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnablePublicCloudAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnablePublicCloudAudioVideoAccess $False And while the script changes the targeted parameters successfully, the switch in the GUI still remains in "ON" position. I Have set the switch to the "OFF" position by hand, but underlying parameters quoted in code block above, haven't changed (their values retrieved with Get-CsExternalAccessPolicy powershell command. So, from that, it seems that those commands aren't for that option after all.. Any help is appreciated. Br
Windows Virtual Desktop - Teams and Skype
Hello Everyone, I am looking for any tips that will allow me to install and use Teams and Skype for Business on Azure Windows Virtual Desktop? Is this available? Currently after installation apps do not see microphone or camera - web browser is not asking me about permissions for microphone and camera. Regards, Wojciech
Moving users from Skype for Business On-Prem to Teams get-cspowershellendpoint error
Hello gang, I am currently trying to move some users from my on prem Skype for Business 2015 server to Teams. When I select a user and select Move to Teams I am asked to log on to my Office 365 account and when I put my credentials in I am returned the following error. I have 2 questions 1) How can I be able to get past this error 2) Is there any way that I can run a powershell command that will automatically do this for me via some kind of CSV file that I can prepopulate with users I want to move? Thanks!
Teams to skype messages and vice versa
We are currently using SFB (Skype for business) and are planning to migrate to Teams. The issue is we need our receptionists to have desk phones because it makes calling and transferring so much easier because they have expansion modules (sidecars) that you can use (example Yealink T48G with EXP40), which works well with SFB. As far as I know, there is currently no phone manufacturer that has an expansion module that supports Teams (The Yealink T56A supports Teams, but not with the EXP50 module). So we are thinking of converting all our users to Teams including the receptionists, and have everyone use Teams on the desktop but leave the physical desk phones logged in using SFB. When we tested it though it didn't work as I hoped, the user could not transfer calls from her desk phone (again, SFB) to anyone that uses Teams on the desktop or tablet (we tested Islands Mode and Teams Only mode). Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation? Teams users cannot communicate (chat or phone) with SFB and vice versa? If not, any suggestions? Thanks.
Skype presence not working in SPO with Chrome/Edge
On the subject this nice feature that you could use Skype via browser in O365 SPO is not working anymore with Chrome or Edge. Only working browser is IE11 so is there a fix for other browsers or some policy restriction in Chrome that prohibits this function?Get a Behind the Scenes Look at Delivering a Microsoft Teams Live Event with Me Monday!

Skype (not for Business) to Teams
Hi all, It can be there is aleady an answer but I couldn´t find it so far. In my company it has been used Skype (not for Business) for many years, so, all my colleagues here have several contacts saved, especially contacts from external companies. Now we wanted to start using Teams, but the problem is, how to import all those contacts into Teams ? Thanks
