34 Topicsalert on External Sharing event
I'm trying to create an alert that will inform Security team on External Sharing event from Teams. I found that there are some controls over SharePoint and then some Activity Types related to sharing... but I don't know what each of this action means and how to narrow down to only 'external sharing'? - is there detailed documentation describing each Action Type for each App? - how distinguish between external/internal? thx!2.2KViews0likes1CommentMail merge
Hi, I am doing an IT level 2 course which involves learning mail merge. I am following all the instructions on the wizard but when I go to an existing set of recipients I do not have the expected pre prepared excel spreadsheet to use. Does anyone know where I need to go to get this and even why it isn't already there? I am using office 365 personal. Thanks in advance669Views0likes0CommentsView Previous Excel Spreadsheet Version in SharePoint Online without Restoring
Due to the new AutoSave option in Excel (which I've turned off by default) my colleagues are inadvertently making changes to Excel spreadsheets that they're essentially only trying to review. My guess (from speaking with them) is that they're just enabling certain table filters or slicers in the data, or perhaps resorting records as they review certain spreadsheets. However, I can't really be sure that no data has changed and that has me concerned. Ultimately, I want to compare their version with the previous version to review what has changed. While Microsoft Word for Office 365 has great mechanisms for doing this, understandably spreadsheets are a different beast and that sort of web-based comparison doesn't seem to be available yet. What I'd like to be able to do is take the previous version (download it if I have to) and compare it against the current version. And in the long-term I've reduced the permissions for the document library folder so more people have just "View" permissions but no "Edit" permissions. Here is a image of screenshots that shows what I'm running into. https://www.screencast.com/t/1bT6y33C0t Any help for a better workflow or suggestions on what we should be doing would be appreciated. This is pricing documentation and while I want people to quickly review it, I don't want any edits to be made unless they're reviewed by multiple people and approved.15KViews0likes9CommentsProtected Sheet for field use...
What is the best process to make one sheet available for use by people in the field? They just need the ability to fill in form data, save it, then email it in. The layout is rather simple, with no charts of any kind. The reason for my inquiry is because we have been using PDF forms, but the iPhones are corrupting some of the form fields. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.832Views0likes0CommentsShared Excel Workbook does not save all changes (Office 2010, Excel 14.0.7197.5000)
Hello, I created a shared excel sheet, where multiple users has access to. Now 5 people are working in this table and the document is stored on an network drive what could be used by all of them. If more than one person is working in the table and more than one change is made at the same time in most cases a hint pops up whether the changes of the former saver should be used or the newer ones. Unfortunately sometimes (not definable when) this is not the case, what creates greater issues. Even the change history does not provide any usefull hints regarding what was happen and why. Any ideas about that constellation? I would be happy for any advice. Many thanks in advance, Best regards!1.3KViews0likes0CommentsFind and Replace not working in Protected Excel Workbook (for unlocked cells)
I have noticed a new issue in the desktop version of excel (v16.13.1) - I am working on Mac. I have a protected workbook with protected sheets and some unlocked cells which contain plain text. With the older version (before 2018) I was able to still use find & replace to quickly correct mistakes in these text cells, even though the overall workbook was locked (and sheet was protected) -The cells I want to be able to edit are unlocked and can be edited by clicking into them one by one. Since the new update, I can no longer use find/replace or the spell check option. I hope this is an update oversight and will be fixed soon!2.4KViews0likes0CommentsWorking with online data via local copy of Excel
We’re trying to limit the downloading of our organizational data. Once a file is downloaded, we lose all control over where that file, and hence our organizational data, goes. However, we also recognized that some of our users have valid reasons to use Excel to perform research and analysis on our data and that further, a material number of people live in parts of the world where internet bandwidth is limited. We’ve heard of people accessing Excel Online files via their Excel desktop app who are under the impression that the data is never stored locally. But we question whether temporary files are in fact being created, and if so, savvy users could access those temp files and we’re back in the download business again. Does Microsoft have any recommendations that would allow us to prevent users from downloading data files but at the same time not have a severely hampered experience when working in Excel in bandwidth-starved locations? If the answer to the above question is that local temp copies are necessary for a productive Excel experience in these bandwidth-limited areas, is there are way to prevent directly accessing the temp files or saving/sharing these temp files with others? Also, would these temp files be accessible to InTune in the event that a remote wipe was necessary? btw.. We have Office 365 Enterprise so every user has access to Excel or SharePoint Online.2KViews0likes0CommentsExcel sheet layout not right on iPhone
I have an excel sheet with a certain layout, but when somebody opens this on an iPhone (with the built-in viewer), some elements (images) are moved a little bit and row sizes are smaller than intended. Is there a way to format the layout of the Excel sheet, so it's viewed the exact same on iPhones as well, with the built-in viewer. I know using the official Excel app from Microsoft would be a solution, but the Excel sheet goes to customers, can't ask them to install that app.1.2KViews0likes2CommentsEXCEL stopped allowing multiple users editing spreadsheets live, Word still works.
I've been using 365 and group sharing of document via OneDrive group drives through my organisation. The tools allow multiple users to open MS documents/spreadsheets directly from the OneDrive shared group drive and allow those users to edit the file at the same time. Word & Excel worked for quite some time, however a for about 1-2 months Excel spreadsheets have stopped allow this live group edit to work. This means when a user opens a spreadsheet that is currently open, it must be opened in READONLY mode. Word still allows multiple users as stated. We open the file from the group drive by >RMB>View online>opens in a browser>Edit in Excel> Message: This file is already open ...1.6KViews0likes0Comments
