Hi everyone, I’m running into a very frustrating issue with Microsoft Word and I’m hoping someone has seen this before. Word Desktop consistently freezes when I try to use modern comments with tables. The freeze happens after typing into the comment field and trying to save the comment. The application becomes unresponsive and needs to be force-closed. What’s strange: The exact same document works perfectly fine in Word for the Web. I can add and edit comments in tables there without any issues. Brand new Lenovo laptop (Windows 11) Microsoft 365 (latest version) Issue started immediately on this device Same workflow worked fine on my previous laptop What I’ve already tried: Running Word in safe mode (winword /safe) Creating a new Windows user profile Quick Repair and Online Repair of Office Fully reinstalling Microsoft 365 Disabling / removing McAfee antivirus Testing with a completely new document Disabling modern comments (old comments work, but are not ideal) Testing local vs OneDrive files (same behavior) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!150Views0likes1CommentWord freezes or crashes when pressing the G key in the file search
When pressing the letter G in the file search on Word, it either just freezes and doesn't respond or crashes immediately. Regardless of whether Word is in Safe Mode or not. It also pops up a "Word couldn't start last time" pop-up when I try to open the app again and asks if I want to open it in Safe Mode. Which, as I said, still has the same problem. As far as I can tell, that's the only issue with Word. Everything else works great so far. This does not happen with other apps like PowerPoint or Excel. I have only recently reinstalled all the apps and it does not seem to have helped. Windows 11 25H2256Views0likes12CommentsFormatting issues in Word Microsoft 365 Copilot online.
I am experiencing formatting issues in Word (Microsoft 365 Copilot online). I am a student, and I have a problem formatting my thesis in M365 Copilot after previously working on this file on an older device with an older version of Word. I recently purchased a new laptop, where I no longer have access to that same version of Word. My only option now is to use Word in the browser. However, the file that formatted correctly on the old device is now not formatting properly. The automatic table of contents is breaking. After clicking “Update,” Word assigns random page numbers, most often all entries show as page “8,” or, for example, the “Introduction,” which is actually on page 3 (I manually set page numbering in the old version), suddenly appears as page 5 in the table of contents. Every chapter and subchapter is shown as being on the same page, usually page 8. The formatting options and capabilities also seem worse compared to the interface of the older version. The same issue occurs on my student account. Please help, I am currently writing my thesis.393Views0likes3CommentsVBA concern: support for macros or controls not installed
Background: installed Zotero, a citation manager, to use on Word but it uses macros My Word doesn't seem to have VBA installed. Every time I open the app, error boxes appear. Screenshotted below: I have tried a few things to fix this but without benefit: Macros enabled in the trust centre VBA enabled in the trust centre Rapid and online repair completed I have attempted to 'change' the program in the Control Panel in order to access the 'expand/add features' option but this does not exist as an option for me. When I press 'change' only repair options appear for me. Screenshotted below: My impression is that somehow VBA was not installed when I downloaded Office form my account. I appreciate VBA is downloaded automatically but this has not been the case for me. Please advise on next steps.
Dit kost me onnodig veel opslag.
I use Word, as well as other programs, to put the final polish on my manuscripts. I am considering changing publishers, and one of the candidates wants me to use page breaks only on chapter ends. Is there any way that I can tell Word 365 (Win 11 Pro) to let me put the breaks in where I want them? This would also mean finding a way to suppress the automatic page breaks. Is this even possible, and if so, how do you do it? Regards Jo274Views0likes3CommentsWord: Performance and functionality concerns
Hi! Is this happening to you, too? I work on a team that has incorporated co-authoring in a way that it has become an instrumental part of our workflow and processes. We are the only team in our organization to have significant issues with Word: Comments are ghost multiplying (from under 50 to over 4,000) Mark-up is inconsistently available Changes are not always saving for various contributors Formatting, especially custom table styles, are auto-reformatting to something illegiable Important documents are slow to load, if they do Real-time editing is, on occasion, impossible . . . and more. I researched and found some insights. I can't find anything "out there" that would suggest others are experiencing these types of roadblocks. Are you? I am sorry if you are, but I'd be happy to know we're not alone. Do you have any tips or things you've done to improve your experience? Some context: We actively and regularly contribute to documents asynchronously (large and small), apply custom branding styles, comment (and @ team members in comments), share links in team chats, channels, and provide access to others through Outlook links. The majority of the team uses PC, but likely accesses and edits files through chats, channels, emails, Teams, Online, and OneDrive. We also have one Mac, which handles the heavy load for branding and formatting as well. I appreciate any perspectives! Thank you.235Views0likes1CommentO365 Word is so slow
I am using Microsoft® Word für Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2505 Build 16.0.18827.20102) 64 Bit with a document of 620 Pages. It is stored on my local disk to be sure not to have nework problems. My Notebook 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1360P 2.20 GHz with 16 GB Memory and installed OS Windows 11 Enterprise. The document size is about 20 Mbyte. To open the document and be ready to edit, takes about 4 minutes. Searching the document takes Minutes and it is very slow. If the document is oben for another 5 Minutes it will be a bit faster. The memory usage of word is about 700 MB. To be able to work with the document I need to save it as a PDF. With PDF Reader it is comfortable to work with. Is it possible to increase the performance of MS-Word? Thx Bernhard686Views0likes2CommentsAuto populate word document
Hello, I would like advice on the best and most user friendly way to setup an auto populate a sheet for my work. I am looking that when a value is typed such as 1.1, it will populate three different areas of the sheet I need done. I have 71 codes that need to be recognized. At the moment I have been using {IF{REF BookmarkName} “1.1” “content”}. I now have this 223 different ways based upon each section of my sheet. But we can do mail merges and would like it a little bit more clear on where to enter the code. I appreciate your advice and feedback on a method that would be best for this. Thank you.140Views0likes2Comments
