I recently created a folder on my OneDrive account with Word Documents that i had saved in the folder. Upon trying to locate the folder in my OneDrive, the folders that i had just created, never showed up again. It was really strange, because i was sure that i had created the folders and i was not losing my memory. Then i thought that it might not be showing in my File Explorer/ OneDrive if I still had the Word Document open so i closed the word document and then opened my OneDrive in my file explorer and I still couldn't find the folder that i had just created. After about 10 minutes, i opened the Word program once again and then located the file under,"Recent Documents", then right clicked the file that i had recently created and selected "Open File Location". When i did that, it indeed showed that the file location that i had just created did exist in the pathway i just described, in Word's memory, but it was still not existent in my OneDrive's memory under my File Explorer. Has anyone else experienced this issue with OneDrive not remembering recently saved folders and their contents?Solved184KViews2likes14CommentsAnnouncement: New OneDrive Admin Center Preview
Over the past year, OneDrive has evolved at a rapid pace introducing new features for end users and IT, across sync, web, and mobile. As the number of users and usage continues to grow, our customers have asked for an easier way to administer their company OneDrive settings and policies. Today, we’re excited to announce the rollout of the OneDrive admin center preview to First Release customers and we want to hear your feedback. Once deployed to your tenant, all tenant and SharePoint admins will have permissions to access the OneDrive admin center preview at https://admin.onedrive.com. Key features by section include: Home: This is the dashboard for the admin center and will soon show recent Office 365 Message Center posts and usage reporting related to OneDrive for Business. Sharing: This section helps admins gain control over how and with whom your users are sharing information. This includes controlling the use of external sharing and anonymous links, as well as limiting which external domains users can share with. Sync: Admins can block syncing of specific file types and deny syncing to non-domain joined PCs. Storage: This section allows admins to easily set default storage limits and document retention durations. Device Access: This gives admins control over how and from where a user can access their files. This includes allow/deny access from personal devices or specific networks as well as rich Mobile Application Management Intune policies for iOS and Android. Compliance: Admins can find quick links to the Office 365 Security and Compliance Center for key scenarios like auditing, data loss prevention, retention, and eDiscovery. Please have a look at the preview and provide us your feedback and comments below. Our plan is to begin the generally available rollout later next month and subsequently add a link from the Office 365 admin center. Thank you! My company is experiencing an intermittent problem where sometimes a OneDrive for Business file shared with the setting "Anyone with this link can edit" prompts the user the file is being shared with to request access. If the user tries to open the file a second time, they can then access the file without requesting access. We're wondering why that access request prompt sometimes happens and how to prevent it. It doesn't happen consistently, so we're having trouble reproducing and troubleshooting it. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?122KViews6likes116CommentsInclude files in OneDrive sync without copying them
Hi, This may be something already discussed and seems to be in the User Voice forums. I'd like to know if there is a way to include existing folders or files, similar to folder redirection, for files and folders scattered around the computer, so they can be backed up, but without copying them to the OneDrive sync folder. This is pretty fundamental, as when they are copied, they are duplicated, and document versioning issues again come to the fore. This must be the most basic of features that doens't appear to be offered with the OneDrive client. I, and most of my customers, need this functionality and I don't see any way to enable it or to apply a workaround. If this has already been discussed, or if indeed I can achieve this, please let me know. Appreciate the help!Solved115KViews7likes31CommentsFiles [READ ONLY] but no indication they are, so cannot save changes
I have the latest (ends in .1212) client and am still seeing an issue that has been there since the initial release back in Sept/Oct. I can open a file in Excel, either from the MRU list in Excel, using the File|Open menu, or double-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer. (Win10). The file opens and there is no yellow bar that says it is read only with the [EDIT] button to use the file. The title bar in Excel with the file name doesn't say [READ ONLY]. You only find out it is read only when you try to save, and Excel tells you you cannot and then offers to save a copy. The fix is to close and reopen the file. Then the yellow EDIT bar comes up. But of course you've lost any changes. This never happened with the old Groove client, so this is something unique to this new much improved client. I've reported this through official channels via the REPORT A PROBLEM menu in OneDrive but nothing ever substantive comes from it. "Run a /reset command", "reinstall", "resync the library", "oh yeah, we know about that, thanks" But we are getting close to release and I'd love to see this fixed.94KViews2likes46CommentsRegular prompts from Defender Firewall about OneDriveFile Co-authoring
I receive regular prompts from Defender Firewall about OneDrive File Co-authoring. (FileCoAuth.exe) appdata\local\microsoft\onedrive\21.020.0128.0002\filecoauth.exe The file is identified (by defender) as being from Microsoft although the location (in my appdata) makes me suspicious that it could be malware [surely this is bad practice] and the fact that defender keeps blocking it (you'd think the OneDrive teams would have a working relationship with the Windows & defender team) doesn't add to my confidence. So questions: 1) Can anyone else confirm if this is really where MS keep this file? (what's wrong with program files etc.?) 2) Anyone know why defender keeps blocking it (My guess is that it's related to version updates and defender seeing a "new" app connection but why doesn't any update "deal" with issue? Especially as the defender dialgos often come up behind other open apps and go unnoticed for a while! 3) If other people aren't getting this, why am I? [I have a lot of trouble with sync in Onedrive - which I have thus far put down to having 5 Microsoft 365 tenants and personal drive active at the same time and editing across licences]75KViews1like7Comments"UPLOAD BLOCKED We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions
In word or excel I get an error saying "UPLOAD BLOCKED We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions to upload the file." and "The permissions on this file were updated and you no longer have the rights to view this file. If you previously made changes to this file, they may not be saved." These are my files that I created in my programs, save in my OneDrive. Why can't I use my files?! The discussions in this forum are no longer relevant to help with this problem. There is no "office tab" when you click on the OneDrive icon and select settings. The only discussion from 2023 is for a Mac OS. I am using Windows 11.70KViews1like6CommentsOneDrive date modified without changing the file
Hi all, We have windows 10 1709 with OneDrive files on demand enabled One of my users have an issue where if he opens and closes a file the changes the date modified. His computer is a relatively new installation and he is patched up to February's updates. OneDrive Client version is the latest. Most of his files are set to always keep, but when I added a new folder without always keep, created files and checked after a few minutes the issue persists. I found several forums with the same problem and also several user voices for Microsoft talking about it. Any ideas beside trying onedrive /reset?Solved69KViews2likes25CommentsUpload Blocked: We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions to upload the file
For the last several days, I have had this message in Word/Excel/PowerPoint when I have been editing files that are synced to my machine using OneDrive for Business. It also appears when I open a file direct from Word Online, SharePoint Online or Teams. I have tried stopping the OneDrive sync, removing the files and then re-syncing, but I still get the same message. My files that are stored in OneDrive for Business and not in SharePoint Online are fine and can be edited and synced as expected. I am using Windows 10 Pro Build 1803 Any suggestions would be very welcome66KViews1like13Comments
