Excel Template won't work from MS Teams New Menu. Works from SharePoint New Menu.
In MS Teams, Click on New Menu and select uploaded Excel template from list. Then get this message. Click Open in Desktop App and get this message. This works in SharePoint. I've done the same with Word templates and they work fine within MS Teams. Just can't get the Excel Template to work in MS Teams. Any ideas would be great?
Connect two Excel spreadsheets in TEAMS
Dear Community, A month ago I decided to save my huge Excel file in Teams and make it available to my team. So now two dozen of colleagues can insert their entries independently and in parallel. This is very helpful because I can also see who changed what and when. Now I have the problem that certain colleagues have to make double entries (same content in my and another table). Therefore, I would like to connect two Excel files, which must remain separate. To do this, I have copied a cell and pasted it into the other table via "Link Paste". The tables are stored in the same folder on Sharepoint. However, I get an error message, that the link was blocked. Has anyone an idea how to solve this issue? The link looks like follow: ='https://xxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/Project/Shared Documents/[Excelfilename.xlsx]TabName'!$H$149 The following error message appears: "Connection blocked External connections to other workbooks are not allowed."
Created a live excel document in a Teams Meeting, but it seemed to stop saving after a certain time
Hi, A week ago, I created a live excel document to track notes in group Teams Meeting call (with external clients). I was taking notes in the live document but it seemed it had stopped registering whatever notes I took in the last hour, so if I go try recover previous versions on OneDrive, it would only provide a version at the latest 3.18pm when I was still writing notes at 4pm (therefore lost an hour worth of notes). I believe Teams syncing is very slow as my notes only came up on other people's screens (in presentation mode) 1 hr later, so this syncing delay may be an issue... Similarly at the end of the meeting, I even had saved a local copy, but upon checking, the local copy seems to be the same as the 3.18pm variant. but doesn't explain why my local copy (done at say 4:30pm) did not keep all the notes and 'instantly' reverted to some 3:18pm version. Would there be a work-around ? Or perhaps reach out to internal company IT and see if they have more versions of saved files?Shifts schedule export to Excel has problems ...
If exporting simply (not clicking on "file that can be imported), then Shift notes do not appear as a column. You have to doubt-click the column in Excel with the shift reveal the shift note. Also, even if you uncheck daily hours and time off, it still exports them. If you export with "file that can be imported" you lose cell shading colors (it becomes a column with the color written out) and each employee could have two or three rows if there is a shift note added. Exporting to excel and then dropping into Slack loses spreadsheet presentation and puts each column on its own page. Quite a mess.
Copying Regular numbers from an excel spreadsheet into a spreadsheet kept in Teams
I'm sure this is user error but it's maddening and I just can't seem to figure it out! I want to copy a column of regular numbers to a spreadsheet I have in excel but when I do, I get a set of numbers depending on what selection I choose (Text, General, Number...) none of which are just a regular number. I have tried every conceivable option and can't get it to just copy a regular number. One thing I was told was to switch both columns before copying to text, then copy and paste. That didn't work for me. Any ideas? Seems like a very odd limitation if it's not possible to transfer regular numbers that's why I'm sure it's something I'm doing or not doing. Using Excel in Teams vs. the Excel Application
Will it be possible for Excel in Teams to incorporate all capabilities from working within Excel (the actual application) in the near future? Currently not all Excel formatting options are available and not all cell formats are preserved when transferring Excel files into Teams. In particular, not all border types for cells are included in Teams or shown when opening a file in Teams (e.g. the 'slash' border that crosses out a cell).Paste friendly link into Outlook
Desperately hoping for a solution to this! When pasting something from the MS Teams version of Excel into Outlook, my "friendly links" stop working. That is, I have a cell that uses the formula: =hyperlink(link_location, [friendly_name]) When I paste the contents into the body of an outlook email, only the "Friendly Name" text is there, and it is no longer a hyperlink. The hyperlink is retained if I paste from desktop version of Excel into an outlook email, but NOT if I paste from within MS Teams Excel into an outlook email. Does anyone know a workaround for this? Personally I always just open MS Teams Excel in the desktop version of Excel, but I am overseeing other users for whom that additional step is too complicated. Thanks very much!
automatic alerts 3 months before a date in MS Teams Excel
Dear Everyone, In the MS Teams excel I share with my colleagues we track programs that have a start and an end date. I would like to create an automatic alert that is triggered when the end date of a program is three months ahead of the current date (i.e. today). Ideally, this alert would print the content of a pre-defined cell. Is this possible? And if so, can you give me suggestions? Thanks a lot. And sorry if this has been posted already somewhere else. Copying in Excel whilst on Teams call locks up Excel
When I copy something in Excel whilst in a call, about 80% of the time it will lock up Excel. This eventually (minutes, not seconds) will free itself, and you can also force it to unlock by copying something else in another programme (I use screengrab program Greenshot) then you supersede the clipboard with the screenshot and you unlock Excel (and lose whatever you copied from Excel). It seems like Excel copying data to the clipboard makes it hang. But ONLY whilst on a teams call. It will unlock when the call ends. This has been happening for months now, it's not every time, but I mainly share Excel sheets in Teams, and I'm on calls all day so this is a game-stopping issue for me. There's another thread here which sounds similar (about sharing files in a call and them locking up) but this is more general than that.
