Is there a way to find who is the owner of the file e.g. File A was shared by A with B and B shared it with C. is there a way for C to find who is the actual owner of the file? The template file was shared with Manager Store 1 by someone and Manager Store 1 Shared it with me. I was able to identify this through Graph API but for end-user it is a real problem.Solved32KViews1like5CommentsShared by me - No Sorting Options?
Really excited to see the much awaited Shared By Me in OneDrive for Business. We definitely see the benefits and will use this in our continued effort to educate users on why they should share a document rather then send out copies. One issue - it is not sortable? And the default sort order I have not quite figured out. 1. Will it be sortable? 2. If not can we sort by something that makes sense like "Latest Shared"?12KViews6likes27CommentsCloud problem "OneDrive"
There is a problem with the cloud, it’s definitely not local, but specifically in my account OneDrive. The problem is that through the parameters when emptying the recycle bin, an error appears "undefined" to be more precise it looks like this "will be cleared undefined storage". I contacted Microsoft technical support, first with the technical department, then with the accounts department, then with the department OneDrive. They said everything was fine with the account, there were no problems, initially I was sent to the accounts department, later I was sent here, but even then they only advised me to clear the cache, Log out of your account and unlink it, none of this helps, it’s useless. This doesn’t help, give me a link to reset the cloud or something else, well, I can’t log into my account from this account, because of the cloud, the computer is just going crazy, the application is on the computer because of the cloud constantly restarts, now constantly processing data, but impossible to work with the account. Give me some good advice already! In addition, due to the fact that the cloud storage is not detected, Clearing synchronized data in a partition does not work "devices".11KViews0likes5CommentsSharePoint Online document library - original metadata lost when replacing documents
Hello, My issue is that when replacing/drag&droping the document with an exact name, the metadata that was originally there gets all wiped out, and I end up re-applying all of them. Also, the behavior is inconsistent. In some other document libraries, after replacing the document and losing the metadata values, I re-apply a value in one column, and then SPO auto-fills other fields to match the lost metadata values. Does anyone have any ideas why it happens and how to fix it? Thank you, RheaSolved9.3KViews0likes2CommentsForcing the addition of required metadata in file upload to Teams
Hi all, So, when we upload files to SharePoint, we have mandatory metadata fields that we must fill in, for multiple reasons. Right now uploading to Teams just... uploads. Is there a way to force the user to input metadata fields when uploading to Teams? I know we cannot see additional metadata fields in Teams, but that is sort of okay with us, as long as the files GET the metadata fields we need. Thoughts?Solved8.8KViews0likes9CommentsSharepoint not forcing value input of required metadata
Hi, I noticed, with much disappointment, that when I set a column to "Require that this column contains information" in a document library, and then when uploading a file, I am not forced to enter metadata but the file simply shows "Required info" in the column. Do you think that using a custom form for uploading file I can in some way drive the upload to force the valorization of the required metadata (e.g. disabling "Save" or "OK" button in the form until the required column does not contain a value)? Thank you.8.5KViews0likes3CommentsTagging in Onedrive for Business
Hi All, File tagging is a feature that is not available in Onedrive for Business yet, although competing cloud storage providers are already there (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/one-drive-files-tagging/a92a6323-46e0-4be3-a108-19a14a3e1f20). Can Microsoft confirm that tagging will be available in a new release of OfB ? The reason I'm asking is that we want to deploy OfB in our company but need an easy way of organizing or folders and files, so that it would be easy to retrieve a folder or file. A feature like tagging (or similar way of managing files) would be very helpfull. If a tagging feature would become available, when will it be released ? Thanks for the info. I am troubleshooting a site in SharePoint Online in which metadata does not appear. The site is a team site with default settings and the only way for the metadata to be visible is to go into Quick Edit view and have all the columns displayed. If you try and edit the properties of an uploaded document, they do not display. Can anyone share any insight on some possible causes or fixes?7.1KViews0likes3CommentsSharepoint Online Migrating a Document Library with Metadata in 2019
Woe is to me. My organization pulled the plug on my old SharePoint library. All of the instructions on how to migrate data pertain to that. (There is no "Content Structure" option in this new library). Therefore, I am going to have to retype all of this metadata for about 2000 documents by hand because there is simply no way to get it from that old library onto the SharePoint Online. However, I wanted to confirm that this is possible between two SharePoint Online libraries. I am still grappling with a lot of issues as to how to recreate my old landing page with links to everything in my library but I wanted to start on creating columns for all the PDFs in my collection. I experimented with a few just to test it (you know, before I do a hundred hours of work only to have it be for nothing). When I copy or move a folder to another sharepoint library, it does so, minus my customized columns and terms. Therefore, it seems that anytime a library gets moved you have to redo 7 years worth of work. Am I right? So before I do anything, I have to make absolutely certain that new place for this is 100% set in stone and that not a single folder name will ever be changed otherwise I lose everything and have to start over. This is what I am beginning to think. The reason I think this is that I have two test libraries going that I intend to delete, so I can work out all these problems. Because once you go down the wrong path you can't go back and easily fix anything. Sorry for the long preamble, but if there is a way to migrate massive data libraries between SharePoint Sites with the metadata intact I would like to hear it because the following does not exist in the "New and Improved" [notice I put that in quotes] SharePoint. Site Contents.Site Administration> Site Libraries and Lists > Site Content and Structure (I tried this in my old library but there was nowhere available to migrate the info to.4.8KViews0likes1Comment
