I’m extremely frustrated with the process of trying to recover my Microsoft account. My account was compromised, and the person who got into it changed the email address associated with the account. Because of that, my original email is no longer recognized, and I cannot sign in or use the normal password recovery process. I have tried the recovery form, the Sign-In Helper, Microsoft support pages, chat support, phone support, and multiple other suggested recovery routes. Every single option seems to send me back to another automated system, another bot, or another page that eventually circles me back to the same place I already started. I have also run into technical errors when trying to start support chat, including the system trying to use my phone number as a UPN and failing because it expects an email-format username. At this point, I feel like I am being blocked from even reaching a real person who can properly review what happened. This is becoming a serious issue for me because I am a college student and I rely on my personal Microsoft account for access to services, files, applications, logins, and other resources I need to complete my schoolwork. Not having access is actively interfering with my ability to work efficiently and keep up with my responsibilities. I understand that Microsoft has security procedures in place to protect accounts, and I am fully willing to verify ownership. I can provide previous account information, old passwords I remember, devices I have used, purchase information, and other identifying account details. What I need is an actual support representative who can review the situation instead of being continuously redirected through automated recovery tools that are not resolving the problem. I am not asking for security to be bypassed. I am asking for a legitimate way to speak with someone who can help me recover an account that was taken over and had its sign-in information changed. If anyone from Microsoft Support sees this, or if anyone has successfully recovered an account after the primary email/alias was changed by an attacker, I would greatly appreciate guidance on how to reach the correct department or escalation team.58Views0likes0CommentsA major step backwards: Classic Outlook vs. New Outlook on changing the "From" sending account
The Issue: In New Outlook, changing the "From" address after you have already started composing an email message opens a new, blank message window, forcing you to copy and paste your original message subject, contents, and attachments. This is an irritating change from Classic Outlook, where you could simply switch the sending account from a dropdown menu while keeping your drafted message fully intact. Expected behavior: When changing the "From" address while composing a mail message, it should simply be updated to the newly selected account, and the body, subject line, and any attachments of the message you are writing at that time should be preserved within the same composition window. The Classic Outlook Way (The Right Way) to Switch the "From" address: For years, my workflow in Classic Outlook has been simple. I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want, and I'm good to go. The message content is untouched, it's all still there. Changing the From-address is a two-second action that is intuitive and efficient. The "New Outlook" Way (The Baffling Way) to Switch the "From" address: Now, I try to do the exact same thing in the "New Outlook." I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want. But then, after choosing a different From-address, a completely blank new message is opened. And I have to copy/paste everything from the message window I was writing in before to the newly opened message window. So annoying! This feels like a classic case of simplifying the UI to the point where it loses critical functionality. What used to be a simple dropdown selection in Classic Outlook is now an irritating multi-step process in New Outlook. It seems to be an intentional design choice, but it's one that ignores the reality of how users with multiple mail accounts actually work.1.8KViews6likes8CommentsMicrosoft Account Stolen and Frozen, Unable to Exit Insider Program
Hello everyone, I’m facing a rather challenging situation and would greatly appreciate your assistance. The Microsoft account I used to join the Windows Insider Program has been hacked and stolen. After reaching out to Microsoft Support, the account has been frozen to prevent further misuse. As a result, I'm currently unable to exit the Windows Insider Program: the new Microsoft account has not joined the program, and the old account cannot be logged in. I kindly request your help in either recovering the old account or finding a way to exit the Insider Program so that I can return to the stable version. Thank you in advance for your support!135Views0likes1CommentPassword reset and recovery fail
Hi there, good morning. First i appreciate any ones assistance here, its been a little frustrating. My regular windows account, for purchases, family content etc is "email address removed for privacy reasons". I cant sign in to that one any more. it is under 2fa with a code generator (I have that and the code is fine etc), it has a phone number (i have that!), and email account of course. I tried to enter the password to login to microsoft account - account.microsoft.com - and it gives the error "there have been too many failed login attempts". So i go through the password reset and works fine and i have a new password. I try again straight away and it fails with the same error. I try again for password reset... see above.. So i try for account recovery and go through the form - but i get an email saying because i have 2fa this is ignored and done automatically. However the automatic process does not seem to work - as indicated above. I tried to find a microsoft chat to have a live session, but it says i need to login... so i have logged in with a secondary account. I cant find the live chat sessions though. So i am posting here for any help - if i have the wrong forum i apologize - it was confusing to me about where i should actually make a post... this is making me feel old...lol... thanks Dan126Views0likes0Commentsoptional suggestion: new menu bar app for mac
i wish i could launch one of my edge profile (no matter from which edge) directly in the menu bar. so you create a profile launcher.app and then i can search a profile installed on my 4 browser, without need to launch a browser. at the moment we can do similar things once the browser is launched using the dock icon or using the sync icon or using the menu bar option inside edge. but there is still the limit that we can do it for one browser. we cannot search profiles installed on all 4 browser. plus every time you launch the browser, you open the last used profile. so we first need to close and then switch (which requires time). profile switching is slower in edge compared to google. now with this new app you would simply launch a profile inside an edge app, without launching the previous profile.4.9KViews2likes10CommentsAssistance Required for Account Recovery
Hello, I am having trouble accessing my account: r.**@*.*). When I attempt to log in, I receive the message: "Something went wrong" (without any error code). Upon trying to reset my password, I discovered that a different email (er*****@talktaik.online) is linked to the account, which raises concerns that my account may have been compromised. Despite entering all the required information for recovery, I am informed that it’s insufficient. Could you please assist in resetting the password or provide a way to send the recovery link to the correct email: r.**@*.*? Any alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards,1.8KViews2likes1CommentRecovery does not work for suddenly blocked hotmail account
Hi, I try to help a friend who is suddenly locked out of his hotmail account. The account was made very long ago, so unfortunately the recovery emailadres doesn't exists any more. We did the complete recovery process (twice already) and were able to give exact emailadresses and email subjects like requested. Immediately after submitting we received this: We have determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership. This cannot be reviewed by a person in zero seconds. And the automated system clearly fails! What extra info can we give? Also: We have taken the additional step of blocking your account until we can verify you as the account owner. This will prevent any further use of the account and protect you from any possible malicious activity. So the blocked account is extra blocked? How can we access the account again? The owner is not good with computers (that's why I help him) but he needs his account for important documents like his paychecks, contracts, tickets... Thanks, any help is appreciated!2.1KViews0likes2CommentsWhat Are the Benefits and Considerations for Switching to a Local Account
I recently inherited a laptop and started using it, only to discover that it's currently set up with a Microsoft account instead of a local account. I'd like to switch to a local account, but I'm concerned about what features or data might become inaccessible as a result. Specifically, one of the laptop's internal drives has BitLocker encryption enabled. If I switch to a local account, will I still be able to access the encrypted drive, or will it become inaccessible? Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated!4.5KViews0likes1Comment
