Unable to Create a Rule on a Library with Contribute Permission
Hi the community, I tried to create a rule on a document library where I have Contribute permission. However, when I click on "Create a rule", I get a blank window. Strangely, with the same permission level on a list, it works as expected. Do you know if this is a known limitation? Do you have any workaround to suggest? Thanks in advance.
Out-of-organization profiles and content viewing
Hello, I imagine this is a relatively simple question... I built a SharePoint site for my small nonprofit, primarily for employees who use organization-issued email addresses. I also created a page specifically for our board members, who use personal (external) email accounts. I’ve granted them access to the page and to specific files stored on our organization’s S Drive. While they can access the page and some content (only when I use the Document Library web part and manually insert the file path), most SharePoint web parts don’t function properly for them. It seems that, although they technically have access, SharePoint’s other widgets hit minor permission barriers when trying to pull data—likely due to how Microsoft handles external user access. From what I’ve gathered, the best long-term solution might be to issue board members organization email addresses. One additional note: Instead of granting each board member access individually, I created a Microsoft 365 group for the board and assigned file permissions to that group. I’m wondering if this approach could also be affecting access in some way. Thank you so much!
Access to hidden files
Hello, I have an excel database that links to a sharepoint site via a number of macros. With the workbook attached to the site - I'd like to hide all of the various libraries from the users so they will just see the home screen - while obviously allowing the macros to still access and display the various files. Essentially I need to give them read access without being able to view the library from sharepoint. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate the feedback. Thanks, Anthony
Using Sharepoint as Virtual Data Room (VDR)
I am very new to SharePoint and I have been tasked to set up a VDR using SharePoint. It is for sharing and collaborating with external partners. Important features of a VDR are, but not limited to: 1) User Management and Control (User login, Login auto expiry, Assigning access permission etc) 2) Data Management and Control (Access permission, watermarking, cannot download/save, cannot print, cannot edit etc) 3) User Activity Report (when did user login, frequency of login, which files, etc) I am not able to find much resources for this. I am wondering anyone here has any experience setting up a VDR via Sharepoint. And if you could share best practice or any advice, will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Cheers, jw
Same SharePoint list not displaying all Records
Hi, I'm viewing the same SharePoint list from different profiles but the profiles have the same permissions within the SharePoint list This is from the Data option from the App This is from the site contents of the SharePoint site There also seems to be an issue with the a Flow that sits behind this. Trigger- When an item is created (in SharePoint). I've confirmed that it is connected to the correct site and list. Any ideas of why one list is showing more than the other view and why the Flow is not working?? Regards ChrisLibrary with check out required now can't give edit access
Hi, Is it correct that a document library where check out is required to edit a document means that it is no longer possible to click the Share icon for a specific document and give a person edit access? Of course to edit the document they would have to check it out, but surely a user with their own Edit permissions or Full Control permissions should be able to give another user Edit permissions. We need to maintain the check out a document to edit it as people were accidently creating drafts all the time. Any advice, confirmation of this is the correct behaviour and not a bug appreciated. Hi Experts, Good day, I would like to create new reports in Google data studio (Google Analytics), with the data source coming from SharePoint. I need to import site access user counts, including the number of views and counts. I know that we can export this data via the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center, but my client does not allow tenant access due to data privacy concerns. Could you please advise on how we can achieve this? Specifically, I need to collect SharePoint document and file access user details daily and connect this data to Google Analytics on daily basis.
