Microsoft Teams Private Channels just got a major upgrade — bigger limits, meeting scheduling, and a simpler compliance model aligned to Microsoft 365 group mailboxes. 🚀 Here’s the key takeaways for IT leaders and Teams admins: Scale up: up to 1,000 private channels per team and 5,000 members per private channel. Meetings supported in private channels. Compliance simplified: private channel messages now live in the team’s M365 group mailbox, aligning DLP, Retention, eDiscovery, and Legal Hold across channel types. Migration timeline: worldwide rollout started in Oct–Dec 2025, with a PowerShell cmdlet to track status: Get-TenantPrivateChannelMigrationStatus. Admin checklist Add your Teams’ M365 group mailbox to Purview DLP/eDiscovery/Retention scopes. Verify Teams channel messages retention applies across standard/shared/private. During migration, ensure searches/holds include both group and user mailboxes. Monitor progress with the cmdlet above. #MicrosoftTeams #PrivateChannels #Microsoft365 #Compliance #Purview #DLP #eDiscovery #TeamsAdmin #Collaboration22Views0likes0Commentsexternal company telling me i need to allow my users to enter their meetings
does this make sense to anyone? I have an outside company telling me that they are creating Teams meetings for my company and potential candidates. She indicates that my company is the only company that is not allowed to start the meetings she creates. This does not happen to any of her other customers. She's asked me that I get this fixed on my end. What am i missing here? Is there some sort of setting in my tenant that says do not allow my users to start an external teams meeting?25Views0likes1CommentHow to COMPLETELY delete / unistall Teams
I have an issue with the New Teams. In the old Teams I had access to a guest account and could easily switch. After updating to New Teams - the account that get shown has a combination of the guest org and my own org. I have no way to switch to the guest account. Then when I log out I see a list of other accounts I have used in the past. These are not guest accounts but actual login accounts. I don't have access to them anymore and they are not listed as organisations I'm a member of. I have uninstalled Teams, deleted cache several time but I can not get everything deleted! I have created a new windows profile to test and the issue does not appear there. (not the solution I want) So how do I COMPLETELY DELETE / UNISTALL Teams? I want everything gone from my work profile so I can get a clean install that works.333KViews1like12CommentsRequire approval from IT to join a Team and/or Shared Channels
My company has two sides to its business. Both sides are under the same Microsoft 365 tenant. They can be called Group A and Group B. Group A should not be able to add those from Group B into teams and channels on their own. Likewise, Group B should not be able to add those from Group A. If either side wants to add the other to a team or channels, they should have to get approval from IT, with IT making the additions to the team or channel. We would rather not have this just done over emails. This has to be done while still allowing members of Group A and members of Group B the ability to have 1 on 1 and group chats. Does anyone have any suggestion how to do this?45Views0likes1CommentMS Teams Select Background outside of conference call
Is there a way in MS Teams to change or 'try on' different backgrounds before or without starting a new meeting? I have been able to upload backgrounds and test them during conference calls, but have not been able to view them outside of meetings.Solved1.1MViews14likes42Commentsremoving an unused account from the welcome screen
I share an office computer with several colleagues and when I turn it on I see the Teams welcome screen with several accounts of those who have used it, including a former colleague who no longer works with us. I want to remove her name, but I don't know how. I have removed her account in the general Windows settings, but her name is still there in Teams and gives me a little trigger every time (she left to avoid mobbing charges...) How can I make Teams forget about her?Solved6KViews3likes5CommentsStarLeaf + Teams integration
Hi all, I have a user that wants to integrate StarLeaf into one of his Microsoft Teams group. He is not the owner of the group. The issue he reported: "Currently, Starleaf for Teams is installed, but when there is any attempt to setup using the integration token generated from our systems admin in Starleaf, an error occurs." The link for instructions he used: https://support.starleaf.com/integrating/starleaf-for-microsoft-teams/#3-Install+StarLeaf+for One of the errors he gets: "Something went wrong. Reinstall StarLeaf for Teams." Any idea of what to do? Kind regards, Dino1.8KViews2likes7CommentsNo desktop app, no app button on Teams
I'm on an MS365 personal account. I tried to add the "apps" to Teams. I've tried changing permissions, running it as administrator, and changing the settings. So, I find out "If the Apps button is missing, it may be due to policy settings or the user's account type. For instance, the button is not available for personal Microsoft Teams accounts. Users can try using the web version of Teams or check for updates to the desktop app." I tried the web version and it's not there either. No apps button. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Teams desktop app. Now, I'm prompted the Store couldn't open the app and directed me to go to the Start menu. I did. Teams does not show up. I can't use the desktop version at all. Why can't I reinstall Teams? How do I fix this? And why is MS not allowing the "Apps" function on personal accounts? Is there a workaround?Solved235Views0likes2CommentsMore control with Teams chat notifications (Duration, marking as Read)
Currently in Teams it shows you if you have unread chats in your taskbar notification icon (small red bell). But to mark that notification as read you have to open up Teams and then highlight the conversation to mark it as 'Read'. Does anyone know if there is a way, or given thought to building a way, to have more control over the notification pop-up that would allow you to control how long the notification displays when a new chat is received and to also add a button that would allow you to mark the chat as read rather than opening the entire Teams application? I'm not seeing this ability in either the "Teams built-in" or "Windows" notification styles.' Thank you for your consideration!
