Guests

During a team video meeting (a class), I saw that most of our students (who all log in with their office 365 accounts) show up as "guests". This happened to me last week (but fixed itself), and today happened to another teacher (although I can see everyone with their username or display name, she only sees 'guest'). Even after she logged out and back in again, when joining the video meeting she only sees the list of attendees and chat with almost everyone as 'guest' (a few students show with their username or display name). Does anyone know what is happening?67KViews0likes12CommentsAnonymous Guests joining meetings - can't share video
I'm having trouble figuring out what policy I can adjust to get the desired outcome. When I normal user creates a meeting with an external guest user, unless the external guest user joins with an actual account, they are unable to share video. See the screens below. This is specific to mobile devices (iOS) but when a guest clicks on the join meeting in email, it will launch teams. They select to join as guest and type in their name. When they get to the next screen, they are prompted to wait for someone to join, however you can see the greyed out camera icon. Once the other party joins, they are put in the meeting automatically but then the camera button is removed. They are unable to share their video. The only thing I've been able to figure is the meeting host can promote them (once they've joined) to status of attendee and if the guest leaves and rejoins, they can then share their video. I've looked through all the MeetingPolicy and GuestPolicy items and can't find anything that is specific to Anonymous users or Guests that would cause this. This doesn't seem to apply if the guest joins on a laptop browser. Thoughts?14KViews1like6CommentsGuest user cannot join live event via browser
I've setup guest access to Microsoft Teams, to be able invite guests to live events. I'm able to setup the live event with the option "specific people or groups". And I'm also able to join the event with internal users but not with external ones.Solved9.7KViews0likes8CommentsSharePoint Online - Guest users access to people search
Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible for guests users have access to people search in SharePoint Online. We are using search rest api to get results from people result source. I found this settings on Azure Portal (Users > User settings > External collaboration settings) Even with the most inclusive option, with a guest we can have access to people search results. I can't find any official documentation supporting the case - supporting or not guest to get people search results. Any idea? Thanks3.8KViews0likes3CommentsSharePoint people search for guest users
We have developed a people directory using PnP Search Webparts that we want to make it accessible to our external users i.e. guests in Azure AD. We have given permissions to guests to App Catalog site. Guests can view our people search page, but they don't see any results. I looked on Google and found some references that guests are not allowed to search SharePoint people directory. Is there a way to enable that?2.3KViews0likes1CommentGuest access as 'teachers' in Teams
Here is the situation: I work in a school music department and I am in charge of a team of visiting music teachers. They are self employed and as a result they do not have school email addresses or access to the school IT systems i.e. Teams, Onedrive etc. I would like to create a Class Notebook to keep track of individual students. I know I can create a Team and invite guests and set this up as a staff notebook. Each music teacher would have their own section and they would have access to the collaboration space etc, but this would be staff only. Ideally, I would like each teacher to have access to a class notebook for their pupils. For practicalities, courtesy and data protection, I do not want one teacher to be be able to access notebooks of other pupils. Is this achievable through Teams/One Note Class Notebook? I suspect I can't do ALL of this within one Team/Class Notebook. One option I thought of is to create a separate team for each music teacher with their students and set up a class notebook that way. This would be set up with me as a teacher, a guest (visiting music teacher) and a collection of pupils. Would the 'guest' be able to function as a 'teacher' in this scenario? Ideally I would like the 'guest' to be able to add to the content library and to have a 'teacher only' section, but I don't know if this is possible with an external email address. Many thanks for your help to anyone who can assist!2.2KViews1like1CommentMicrosoft or Organisation Account - Guest Users Access?
Hi, Not sure if this is possible - I'm working in an environment in which lots of 3rd party companies are on the physical sites (well they will be again after covid!) of the client I'm working for. We are testing Bookings for booking meeting rooms. I have enabled Require Microsoft 365 or Office 365 account from my organisations but this doesn't seem to allow Azure AD "Guests" to login? When they loging they just get a 403 Access denied. Is this possible or something that can be rolled out?1.5KViews0likes1Comment
