Group Policy Editor
5 TopicsCannot edit Default Domain Policy
When I am in Group Policy I cannot edit the default domain policy. All other ones are fine. I can see the settings, but cannot edit it. It is causing problems because it seems to stop the progression of group policies being applied. Failed to open the Group policy object. You might not have the appropriate rights Details: the volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid. I can access the policy folder through explorer through both domain controllers so I have the rights. I know I can use dcgpofix, but only as a last resort. I'm not sure if Exchange will be affected when I use this. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks.6KViews0likes1CommentGroup Policy Editor errors upon start, no longer allows policies on Windows Updates
Hello, I have an OEM version of Windows 10 Home with Group Policy Editor installed via powershell. I was to install it for my college as I had to use the Windows Update policy to keep the device on Windows 10 Version 21H1 due to a program requiring it to run (Windows 11 support has not been made yet). However, when I start up GPEdit.msc, I get an error saying the Windows ADMX file containing the Windows Update Policy is missing, however it is still there in its directory. The error is as follows: "Policy presentation element 'ManagePreviewBuildsId' in referenced presentation 'ManagePreviewBuilds' does not exist. File C:\WINDOWS\PolicyDefinitions\WindowsUpdate.admx, line 709, column 100" The ADMX file in that patch has this in line 709, column 100: "<enum id="ManagePreviewBuildsId" valueName="ManagePreviewBuildsPolicyValue" required="true">" What can I do to resolve this?4.6KViews1like3CommentsConfigure RPC packet level privacy setting for incoming connections not show in group policy
Hi, it's about the group policy setting in windows server 2022, I have downloaded Windows Server 2022 Security Baseline.zip from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55319 Microsoft Security Compliance Toolkit 1.0 and imported SecGuide.adml and SecGuide.admx. I can see the MS Security Guide folder in local group policy editor, but there is no setting for "Configure RPC packet level privacy setting for incoming connections", I also try to find from All Settings, there is no such setting. Could you advice how to config it to let it show in the group policy editor or GPO. Thanks.Solved3.9KViews0likes2CommentsExtending AGPM support for Windows Server 2025
Does Microsoft have any plans for extending AGPM to Windows Server 2025 or creating a new GPO management and approval system? GPOs are still the best solution for Windows Server, and now even Linux distributions are adding GPO support.810Views2likes1Comment
