Co-Authoring
6 TopicsCo-Authoring: OneDrive and Excel, changes not merging
Hi, In my company, we have a macro-enabled Excel file that has to be opened in three computers at the same time, where two of them will be updating data. Suddenly, every five minutes of so, we get the message that says "Your file wasn't saved because we couldn't merge your changes with changes from someone else" When I click on learn more, it says the changes made by X person in VBA were not saved. However, X person is the one logged in the computer that is just projecting; thus, not making changes. Any clues?10KViews0likes4CommentsNo co-authoring in Teams without Office ProPlus?
What version of Office client is required for Teams to have full functionalities/best UX? Nothing is mentioned in the https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/upgrade-plan-journey-prerequisites, yet I read that without ProPlus you can't co-author on files stored in Teams (SharePoint) because the Office apps must be authenticated with O365. Without that co-authoring is only possible in the browser EDIT: Just found https://support.office.com/en-us/article/collaborate-on-word-documents-with-real-time-co-authoring-7dd3040c-3f30-4fdd-bab0-8586492a1f1d: For Word - You'll still be coauthoring, as long as you're an Office 365 subscriber, using one of these versions of Word: Word 2016 for Windows Word 2016 for Mac Word on a mobile device (Android, iOS, or Windows) If you're using an older version of Word, or if you're not a subscriber, you can still edit the document at the same time others are working in it, but you won't have real-time collaboration For Excel however https://support.office.com/en-us/article/collaborate-on-excel-workbooks-at-the-same-time-with-co-authoring-7152aa8b-b791-414c-a3bb-3024e46fb104Solved2.2KViews1like3CommentsCo-Authoring with SharePoint Server 2019 & Office 2016
I have a client who is upgrading to SharePoint Server 2019 but keeping Office 2016. I am well versed with the co-authoring capabilities between SharePoint Online and Office 365, but I have no idea what co-authoring would look like with SP 2019/Office 2016 combination. Has anybody seen the SP 2019/Office 2016 combination in practice? I would appreciate any insight you can share. Thanks!1.4KViews0likes1CommentCannot co-author docm file in OneDrive for Business on 1906 Monthly release
Hi all, This was announced as a new feature for Office 365 ProPlus 1906... CoAuthoring: Tired of being locked out of your document with macros? Now your docm files on OneDrive for Business allow simultaneous editing by multiple authors. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/monthly-channel-2019#version-1906-june-24 That said - we can't get it to work. Both are on 1906 (Monthly) and it doesn't work on older .docm or even newer ones. I have the .docm file in my OneDrive and shared, and open, but cannot co-author. Have you noticed the same? Versions of OneDrive Sync Client are 19.103.0527.003 (colleague) and 19.123.0624.0002 (me). Would be interested to see if anyone else has noticed the same...???1.4KViews0likes0CommentsAdvanced documentation on co-authoring
I am looking for advanced documentation or FAQ on co-authoring with Word on Office 365. For example, what happens when tracking changes is enabled. Or common issues and workarounds on low-bandwidth connections. Any pointers would be appreciated.Solved1.3KViews0likes1Comment
