The temptation to use the Mail.Send application permission in scripts can lead PowerShell developers into trouble because the permission allows access to all mailboxes, including sensitive executive and financial mailboxes. Fortunately, RBAC for Applications allows tenants to control the access that apps have to mailboxes and other Exchange content. All explained here with an example script to test RBAC of Applications. https://office365itpros.com/2026/02/17/mail-send-rbac-for-applications/52Views2likes4CommentsSync Issues with Tracking Meetings from Outlook to Dynamics 365
Hello, my work uses the Dynamic 365 App for Outlook to track meetings as appointments in Dynamics 365, but it has failed several times for several users (on both Mac and Windows, in Old and New Outlook and on web browsers); some meetings will fail to track immediately while in some cases, meetings that were successfully tracked will stopped working and are no longer tracked in Dynamics. In the spoiler below is a sanitized version of the diagnostic log for meetings that used to be tracked that stopped working: In the log, we have the following error message: "lastsyncerror": "ExchangeSyncGeneralCrmItemSyncError;Microsoft.Crm.Asynchronous.EmailConnector.ErrorSource.Crm:130;T:188\r\nActivityId: [Removed]\r\n>Exception : Microsoft.Crm.Asynchronous.EmailConnector.ExchangeSyncException: Failed to sync item to CRM server : System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault]: There is no active transaction. This error is usually caused by custom plug-ins that ignore errors from service calls and continue processing. at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) +0x27 at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) +0x1ba at Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.IOrganizationService.Execute(OrganizationRequest request) at Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.WebServiceClient.WebProxyClient`1.ExecuteAction[TResult](Func`1 action) +0x15 at CrmSDKLib.OrganizationServiceWrapper.<>c__DisplayClass10_0.<Execute>b__0() in C:\\__w\\1\\s\\src\\lib\\CrmSDK\\OrganizationServiceWrapper.cs:line 13..." In Outlook, when I look at these meetings and check the app it gives the message: Recurring appointment occurrence cannot be tracked However, we have other series of recurring meetings that have been successfully tracked that does not run into the issue. Anyone has encountered this or similar issue? How do we resolve this so going forward the app can track all meetings without issue? Please let me know, thank you!107Views0likes2CommentsMS Outlook app on Apple Watch SE
I have an Apple Watch SE (A2355) and the MS Outlook app cannot be installed on it anymore. It was an excellent way to access my work calendar on the go. The reason is that the OS version is 10.6 but 11 is needed. Is there a workaround or a fix for this? Note that I can't use Apple Calendar because my employer has disabled the Outlook calendar sharing function for security reasons.223Views0likes2CommentsCalendar to send invites from a generic email address
I've basically set up a shared mailbox called meetings@... The intention is to use its calandar to book meetings for various groups in our club membership and to have one central area where a team of staff can use it instead of their own logins and cluttering up their personal calendars. What we want is the invites for this calendar invite to appear to come from meetings@... I've added a few people as members of the shared calendar so they can post invites. However, even if we send out an invite "From:meetings@...", the invitee always gets the invite from the individual, not the shared account. The meeting invite has to come from meetings@.... How do we do this? Have I missed something when setting this up? Is the Event creating process different to posting from a personal mailbox? Is using a shared mailbox even the best way to create this shared calendar?Solved10KViews0likes5CommentsUnified Company Calendar for Mixed Microsoft 365 and Non-365 Users – 2025
Seeking a Shared Calendar Solution for Mixed Microsoft 365 and Non-365 Users I’m working on a solution to create a shared company calendar that everyone in our organization can view, while keeping editing permissions limited to a few selected individuals. The challenge: Some of our team members do not use Microsoft 365, and I’d like them to still be able to subscribe to or view the calendar and receive updates. Ideally, this should work without requiring full Microsoft accounts. I initially considered using an ICS-based calendar, but it seems Microsoft 365 Group calendars don’t support sharing via ICS links. I also explored creating a Group calendar as suggested in other threads, but ran into issues making it accessible to external users or those without 365 accounts. For context, I’m a Global Admin, so I have full access to configure settings in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and Exchange if needed. We’re a small business, and our main goal is to have a centralized calendar for vacation schedules and company-wide events. It should be simple to access and maintain, with a focus on collaboration and accessibility across the board. What I’m looking for: A calendar that’s viewable by all, including non-M365 users Editable only by a few delegated team members Compatible with Microsoft 365, but not dependent on it for basic access Any tools, workarounds, or best practices that have worked for others in similar hybrid environments215Views0likes2CommentsBookings time slots
Hi everyone, I have a booking calendar created, which is designed to support two customers at the same time. So 2 slots can be booked at the same time. I was trying to change only one of them, reschedule it for another day, but I can't see such an option. Whenever I'm trying to change only one of the bookings, it reschedules both of them. Does anyone know if there is such an option, but I don't know how to do it, or there is no option like that. Thank you.150Views0likes1CommentHow to control which users you see in the Places app
My company is looking into using the Places app. I have buildings, rooms, floors, etc, all setup. This is duplicated from what is already setup for Room Finder in Outlook. We use M365 Business Premium or M365 E5 licenses. Nobody has Teams Premium licenses at this point. Those of us testing have set our working days/hours/location in the Calendar in New Outlook and that shows up fine in Places. I can see the people I favorited and what building they are in (whether it's in New Outlook, Teams or the M365 Copilot Places app. The issue I am having is that I see one user (who I have not favorited) listed every day and I have no idea how to remove this person from my daily Places list. Other people also see this same person in their Places list and some see a different person. I only want to see those people I have favorited and nobody else. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?761Views0likes4CommentsMicrosoft Places individual desk booking is not working
Hi, Following the documentation, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/places/configure-desk-booking, I successfully ran the shared command lines without any errors. However, on Microsoft Places, I am unable to see individual desks appear; only desk pools are visible. Has anyone managed to get this to work? Thanks,1.8KViews2likes19CommentsAudit booking changes
Have users reporting long-standing discrepancies on room bookings - stuff being cancelled months ago, but not showing anywhere. I remember in the past, being able to audit this. Unfortunately, we now have Purview - a tool we didn't ask for, don't want, but allegedly are forced to use. These are Resources in 365, they have Exchange Mailboxes. Exchange has a tool to search for changes, but demands the subject line. The booking has been removed by the users - and I have no idea if this wants the original 'Booking' or the 'Re: Booking' or the 'FW: booking' or which of the 120 emails were generated. So I'm looking for alternative ways. I believe in the past, I did this via Defender. There WERE activities for Mailbox changes within this audit tool. They appear to be gone - or searching for Mailbox just removes all activities labeled 'Mailbox', I'm not sure. CoPilot gives me an evolving series of deprecated/possibly non-existent cmdlets for powershell, so that's fun. please do not refer me to another terrible marketing 'article'.. I have read so many, learned absolutely nothing useful, and I'm over it. Thank you349Views0likes3Commentssynchronising outlook calendars between accounts
Hello together, I've got 2 different 365 accounts and have the Calendar in use on both. I'm searching for a possibility to sync between the two calendars so that if in one of the calendars an entry is entered, it gets synced to the calendar on the second account that gets synced as well. The other way around as well. Any ideas? br182Views0likes2Comments
