Tried leaving release preview, now I am in dev channel

Copper Contributor

I was in the Release Preview channel for quite some time and decided to leave. I left the program with my account and toggled the option to leave with the next release version, so far so good. Then, it started downloading the following update: "Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26120.961 (ge_release) (repair version)". When I looked into the Insider-Program settings, I was surprised to see I'm part of the dev channel now...I'm not really sure what happened here, since I was only part of the release preview channel before... Is there any possible solution to this apart from reinstalling Windows, or is that the only thing that can bring me back to stable Windows?

In this case, you can try to force restart your iPhone first. Sometimes the system is stuck and the touch screen is not responding. If force restarting doesn't work, check if the screen is damaged or abnormal. If the screen is intact but it still doesn't work, it may be a system problem. It is recommended to connect to a computer and restore the system with iTunes to see if it can be fixed. If it doesn't work, you may need to send it to an Apple store for inspection. It may be a hardware problem.

I recently encountered the same situation. The iPhone screen not responding to touch at all, and unlocking the phone has become very troublesome. I tried restarting several times, but the problem is still not solved. I also started to notice this problem after updating to the latest iOS 17. I feel that it may be related to the system update. I suspect that some underlying applications or system bugs caused this problem, because it has been working well before the update.

If anyone has encountered a similar situation or knows how to fix it, I would really appreciate some suggestions!

iPhone screen not responding to touch! Sometimes, software glitches can cause the touchscreen to stop responding. You can connect your iPhone to a computer and check for any potential software issues. Using iTunes (Windows/MacOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (MacOS Catalina and later):

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Open iTunes or Finder and select your device.
  • Look for any software updates available. If prompted, update your iPhone to the latest version.
  • If there's an issue, you might see a message to "Restore" or "Update." Try clicking "Update" first to see if it can resolve the problem without losing your data.

After updating to iOS 17, my iPhone 11 touch screen not working. My first reaction was to check if there were any system patches, because sometimes there will be some minor bugs when a new version is released. Sure enough, a few days later, Apple launched an update patch, and I quickly upgraded it, and the problem did improve a little.

If the upgrade still doesn't work, downgrading to the previous system version is actually a solution. I tried to downgrade back to iOS 16, and the screen problem disappeared immediately, and the phone returned to normal.

Dirt, grease, or moisture on your hands or the screen can interfere with the touch sensitivity. When the screen or your fingers are dirty or wet, the iPhone's touch sensors may have difficulty registering your touch correctly. This can cause the screen to be unresponsive or act erratically.

Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the screen. This is one of the simple ways to fix iPhone touch screen not working issue without factory reset or complex troubleshooting steps.

This method sounds quite reliable, especially using iTunes or Finder to check for system problems. But I am a little worried. If I click "Restore" directly when the iPhone screen is not responding to touch, will all the data be cleared? I still have some important photos and files in my phone, and I don't want to lose them just because of the system repair. If "Update" doesn't work, is "Restore" the only option? Has anyone tried this method and did the data remain after the restoration?
