How does Viva Glint encourage action taking?- JaimeGonzalesFormer Employee
Most engagement providers utilize a top-down approach in which the HR organization is largely responsible for developing action planning content, issuing recommendations, training managers, keeping them accountable, identifying resources, and assessing intervention quality. Not only does this keep the burden on HR (both in terms of time and resources), it often also means that action recommendations are generalized and not specific to the results of each manager’s team. Without specific, timely recommendations and clear action steps, managers and leaders are unable to effectively improve the engagement of their team and show their employees that their feedback is heard.
Unlike most solutions, Viva Glint’s platform actually turns managers and their teams into change agents, helping remove the burden from HR teams. With Viva Glint's action taking experience, managers gain personalized, high-impact insights based on employee feedback and are equipped to have meaningful conversations with their team to identify improvements. Viva Glint's suggested actions enable managers to fully understand their strengths and opportunities alongside the key results to drive meaningful improvement. Viva Glint's action taking approach includes:
- Immediate access for every manager (typically distributed to managers upon survey close)
- Focus areas that help managers take meaningful action based on employee feedback
- Personalized, targeted learning recommendations for every user and manager based on the specific results of their team feedback
- Pre-built and readily available content (e.g., industry articles, LinkedIn Learning videos mapped to the Viva Glint taxonomy, team discussion guides, and case studies) that can be customized as needed (e.g. by integrating your LMS and L&D content)
- Prioritized recommendations (by both score and impact)
- In-platform guidance upon log-in to nudge managers one step closer to action
- Personalized email nudges that coach managers to take simple steps that will drive their team’s engagement (with direct links to the Action Taking experience)
- Collaboration features that enable managers to involve their team in the action taking process, thereby boosting accountability across the organization (e.g. transparent and searchable focus areas, tagging, commenting, cascading, and tracking)
- Action planning tracking and reporting capabilities
The platform provides clear and concise steps to help managers improve, and enables them to organize and track their focus areas for highest impact. The interactive interface enables managers to select from a variety of pre-built actions and associated resources, including industry articles, curated LinkedIn Learning videos, interactive self-assessments, team discussion guides, and case studies.
In time, we will have the ability to connect managers and leaders to other Viva apps to help them take action to improve survey results. For example, for a manager struggling with learning, direct to Viva Learning, for a leader struggling with clarity, direct to Viva Goals.

How does Viva Glint support frontline workers?- melissabarryFormer Employee
We have utilized several innovative methods and market best practices to help organizations reach their business and engagement objectives, particularly as it relates to highly distributed workforces that aren't always at a desk or in front of a computer. Because Viva Glint's platform is designed mobile first, we have the ability to reach employees via their work or personal computer, web-enabled mobile devices, personal phones, tablets, etc. Our best practices in administration focus on minimizing the workflow disruption of survey takers while getting the most robust data possible. For employees without ready access to a computer or company email address, Viva Glint can host an attribute login page, which is accessible via shared computer, iPad, etc.
We are really excited to be part of Viva that has been built to support frontline workers. More details on some of features within Viva that support frontline employees: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/solutions/viva-front-line-workers

How do you measure engagement?- JaimeGonzalesFormer Employee
Viva Glint defines employee engagement as the degree to which employees invest their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral energies toward positive organizational outcomes. Engaged employees are more likely to exert discretionary effort, resulting in better performance, stay with their organization, and recommend their company to others.
When Glint was established over a decade ago, we embarked on an exhaustive study with Stanford University to examine 500 commonly used engagement survey items, spanning 50 years of research in academia and industry, to create a robust measure of engagement and its drivers. Since our initial development of the items, we have continuously validated and refined them using our research database of 350+ million employee feedback datapoints from global customers and panel data.
Our ongoing research demonstrates that Viva Glint’s two-item index (How happy are you working at [Company Name] and I would recommend [Company Name] as a great place to work) continues to be the best representation of employee engagement, tied to the most people and business outcomes.

What are the People Success Elements?- melissabarryFormer EmployeeViva Glint continuously revisits our measurement of engagement and its drivers. From 2020-2022, we embarked on an exhaustive research project to ensure we had a modern understanding of what drives engagement. Based on a comprehensive literature review and statistical analyses using 350 million employee feedback datapoints from our global customer base, we identified the most important aspects of employee experience to drive employee engagement. We call these the People Success Elements and they include Growth, Connection, Purpose, Clarity, Empowerment, Wellbeing. Our surveys are designed to measure and help leaders and managers take action to address these aspects of the workplace experience to move the needle on employee engagement and can be tailored to the unique needs and context of any organization. We also run studies to show the impact of engagement on the bottom line. In 2023, we found that organizations with high engagement were twice as financially resilient in a turbulent year than those with low engagement. So for customers who are looking for a competitive advantage, engagement should be a primary consideration.

Can you tell me about Viva Glint’s methodology?- JaimeGonzalesFormer Employee
Viva Glint uses a unique single-item approach to quickly and accurately measure key facets of the employee experience. Traditional vendors use multi-item indices or dimensions with 3-7 items to assess a given topic, e.g., Empowerment, which results in long surveys up to 80 or even 100 items. In our research, we found that if you ask the right one question, you can capture the vast majority of the variance of a multi-item index in far less time. Here are some considerations for single-item measures:
- There is no loss in predictive power. Single-item measures are as good as multiple-item measures when it comes to utility and reliability.
- Shorter surveys save time and increase participation. Ease of completing improves response rate and response quality.
- Better comment quality. Due to less survey fatigue and visible post-survey action taking, employees leave more helpful, detailed feedback.
Shorter surveys lead to better action that foster improvements across the employee lifecycle. Viva Glint’s single-item measure approach makes it easy to have more frequent and focused touchpoints about what matters to employees regardless of where they are in their journey, from onboarding, to engagement and topical surveys like diversity, inclusion and belonging or manager effectiveness, on to exit. Viva Glint’s people-centric architecture puts people, not surveys, at the center of the data model. This means your survey programs are automatically connected, allowing you to spot trends and correlate experiences (i.e. how does sentiment at onboarding affects later engagement or likelihood to leave the organization. Viva Glint can be supplemented with short Viva Pulses as needed to democratize feedback to managers and project leads on localized topics. Please note that Viva Pulse is available as part of the Insight Experience Area bundle. As you can see, Viva Glint offers a scalable way to capture all your employee experience data in real time, on one platform across the entire lifecycle.

Could you say more about this? How are you thinking about Viva Glint and Sharepoint home sites? We are looking at new ways to further integrate Viva Glint across Viva and M365.- TheAutisticTechieBrass ContributorOur HR are wanting to create pulse surveys for different topics like "management engagement" and "wellbeing". They want to then embed these surveys into our home site for all staff to go and fill in. It would be very useful if Glint could have these possible as doing this with Microsoft Forms doesn't give the output that Glint looks like it can

With Glint joining Viva, we have a platform to capture the broadest set of direct and indirect signals and access to next-generation AI to offer customers a single solution to improve employee engagement and business performance. Glint has long been a leader in helping organization seek and act on employee feedback to drive continuous improvement.
