Teams live event "Program" NDI output
Am I the only one who is missing a "Live event Program feed" NDI output from Teams when producing live events? Sometimes we need to produce RTMP live events to a specific service instead of Teams Live events. But with all remote participants on Teams. In this scenario I would enable NDI output on my producer Teams client and then capture it with OBS or similar tool for RTMP streaming. The "Active Speaker" NDI output from Teams actually shows the Program feed branded with a Teams logo in the corner when first joining the event. But the problem is that as soon as another presenter unmutes and starts speaking, then the NDI output switches to his video feed (without Teams branding) even though i didn't send him "live". It makes sense that this happens as it's the "Active Speaker" output It would be really nice in live events to also have a "Program feed" NDI output from the Teams client. Or alternatively that the Active Speaker output in live events always showed the Program output instead.1.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: AIP Protected pdf files - cannot be opened with Edge Chromium Browser
Did you find a solution to this issue? I am having the same issue with PDF files that are protected on a customers sharepoint site. Opening the files in Azure Information Protection client works fine, but when trying to open directly in Edge Chromium build 87 it says "Need Permissions".6.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files - Discussion
htcfreek Elliot Kirk I totally agree with this. In enterprise usecases there are often specific file types that the IT department wishes to set to automatically open and not save in Downloads. It could be rdp, and ica like mentioned, but also file types like pdf if they need to be opened in the Desktop version of Adobe Reader.3.2KViews1like0CommentsRe: "Never save password websites" group policy needed
KrisNelson the problem is that our users wish to use the password manager for some external websites. If use the policy you mentioned we completely disable the password manager so they cannot save new passwords. We would like our users to actively use the password manager, but predefine certain internal websites where we do not wish the password saved.15KViews0likes0CommentsRe: "Never save password websites" group policy needed
This could actually be split into two seperate posts/issues. 1. Why does Edge's Password Manager suggest to save the password of a website that uses SSO, and where the user does not input a username and password? That must be a bug. 2. Implement a group policy where enterprises can prepopulate the list of websites they do not wish passwords saved for.15KViews2likes0Comments"Never save password websites" group policy needed
We just deployed Edge to 1000+ devices in our organization but have discovered unwanted save password suggestions from the Password Manager. When users access an internal webpage that uses some kind of integrated windows authentication/SSO/NTLM/Kerberos etc. meaning the user is not prompted for a username and password - the password manager still suggests to save the username and password! There could be many other scenarios in an enterprise where you do not wish passwords on certain internal (or external) websites to be saved, but allow it for others. It looks like Edge automatically populates a list of websites or URL's where passwords are "never saved" and when a website is on that list Edge doesn't prompt if the user want to save the password. It would be very useful for an enterprise to have a Group Policy where we could prepopulate this list with websites we do not want the browser to save passwords for. The browser should of course still fill websites on this list that the user clicks "Never" to save, but so that the list could consist of both websites populated from the group policy and websites added by the user.15KViews4likes8CommentsEdge as default browser GPO error
In the current Stable build 81 when you install Edge and have the Edge Group Policy set to set Edge as the default browser, the error shown below shows up on the pc. As far as i could find online this happens if Edge doesn't change the default browser using the correct API in Windows 10 and corrupts the settings.Solved4.1KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files - Discussion
Nukmicah It's important for many enterprises that Group Policies to control these settings are also implemented. For example we have a web based internal corporate system that require that PDF files in a web portal is opened using Adobe Reader instead of the buildin Edge PDF reader. So it's important that we via Group Policies can control that PDF files should always be opened (in a temp location) instead of downloaded and that Adobe Reader should open them instead of the buildin reader.2.9KViews1like0CommentsRe: Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files - Discussion
Elliot Kirk It is important for us that this run / open / save / save as implementation works together with the "Always open PDF files externally" group policy. We have 800+ employees who are required to open PDF files from our internal document management solution in Adobe Reader, as the build-in PDF viewer in Edge does not display the documents correctly (As the documents have JavaScript in them) But the way the "Always open PDF files externally" group policy works today is not very user friendly, as they have to first download the PDF to the Download folder and then open it. We wish Edge could open PDF files using Adobe Reader just like Internet Explorer could, where when you click a PDF it just automatically opens the file from a temp folder, where the user doesn't see that the file is downloaded and doesn't have to cleanup their download folder.3.1KViews3likes0CommentsPDF viewer does not work with JavaScript
Hi All of our corporate documents are managed in a document solution that generates PDF files from the documents with a specific header in the document stating when they have been requested etc. This header uses JavaScript build into the PDF which works just fine in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer (as it uses Acrobat Reader) etc. But sadly in Edge it only loads the top of the header on each page and displays an error saying: "TypeError: this.info.toSource is not a function". The rest of each page is missing (see screenshot below) This means that thousands of documents that cannot be viewed with the build-in PDF viewer in Edge, but we have to manually download the file and then open it in Adobe Reader.32KViews0likes6CommentsRe: Adobe Reader integration
vygadeka What's the status of this? Has it been implemented? I have been trying in both the Stable and Dev channels today and I still experience a popup saying the PDF reader has been disabled and that i need to click on Download now. We would like Edge to automatically download the PDF to a temp folder (or Downloads as a start) and then automatically open the PDF with the default PDF viewer specified in Windows. The reason we cannot use the buildin PDF reader in Edge is that all of our internal PDF documents have java-script in them (which is disabled in the buildin viewer) used by our document handling solution.34KViews0likes1CommentRe: Provide different options for sorting favorites - Discussion
I completely agree with NoahW about the first part. In an enterprise environment the IT-department often manage a list of favorites that are mandatory for all, and then the users can add their own favorites as well. Normally we would prefer all the corporate favorites on the top as they are the ones our uses need the most - we have ususally accomplished this by naming them with a "-" as the first character. (An even better solution would be if the favorites had a "favorites managed by your organization" section and a "favorites managed by you" section.) The problem is every time we add a new favorite it ends up in the bottom. So we need a group policy to enable automatic ongoing alphanumeric sorting so that no matter how many new favorites are added, they are still in an alphanumeric order.6.2KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Policy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
JaredB81 I have tested with build 81.0.381.0 in the DEV channel and can confirm that it works as expected now. When you type the hostname of a website that redirects to https and doesn't have trusted certificate Edge correctly stays on the site and does not do a search engine search, just like expected. When you type a single word (whether it is including dash, dots or no special characters) that does not exist as a hostname, you briefly (maybe half a second or less) see the "unresolved hostname" page and then you are redirected to a search engine search. I think the way this works is acceptable I am looking very much forward to this build reaching production - this is the first build we would want to implement in our organization. Can you please let us know which build number this would be included in by default (without the command line flag)? I completely agree with Steve Whitcher. This is the first time i have experienced this easy access to developers at Microsoft, that customer wishes have been accepted, prioritized and implemented this quickly. So a big thank you to JaredB81 and your team for this!4.5KViews1like10CommentsPrinting of PDF's broken in DEV build 80.0.345.0
When printing certain graphical PDF's from Edge buildin PDF viewer in build 80.0.345.0, the graphic is never printed, but an error is printed instead. The error shown on the paper is: "ERROR: typecheck OFFENDING COMMAND: setlinecap" In the BETA build 79.0.309.43 there is no problem with the same PDF.879Views1like1CommentRe: Policy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
JaredB81 I have found a scenario where Edge does not react the way I intended/wished. We have some internal websites that is using a self signed certificate not from our CA (Usually test systems, or appliances where it for some reason have been decided not to change the certificate). This of course results in the "Your connection isn't private" (NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID) screen where you can then choose to continue even though it is "unsafe". These systems do redirect to HTTPS if you try to access them on HTTP. When trying to access one of these websites using just their hostname I very quickly see the redirect to HTTPS as i see the "Your connection isn't private" for a split second and then i am redirected to a search engine search.5.1KViews0likes16CommentsRe: Policy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
JaredB81 Fantastic! I have tested the implementation and it works as expected. I have tried various combinations of single word entries, and entries with "." and "-". If the word is not resolved in our DNS it instantly does as Google Search. If the word exists as a hostname in our DNS, but no web server responds to the request, then it also redirects to a Google Search after timing out (which takes about 20 seconds). This is of course quite a long time to wait, but I think it is acceptable as if the word exists as a hostname in DNS you are most likely trying to access that web server and not search for the word. I will continue to run on the this Edge Dev version with the feature enabled and let you know if i stumble upon anything unexpected. But I think it works as wished 🙂 Thank you for implementing this feature.5.2KViews3likes19CommentsRe: Policy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
JaredB81 I can confirm that "." (dot) now works as expected. It correctly keeps to a hostname when you do dots and dashes and doesn't do a search engine search until you type a space. Thank you for the fix! Any status on the ability to fail back to search after a few seconds if the hostname is not resolved? I can see that build 79 is heading to GA, so I am wondering how long we have to wait for this until we can deploy a GA Edge version to our users?5.2KViews1like0CommentsRe: Policy needed: "Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar"
JaredB81 in version 79.0.309.5 the logic behind when to search and when to visit a website still seems strange and in a way that would lead to quite a lot of search engine searches where a internal website was what was intended. Take "test.vejle.intern" as an example which could be an internal hostname. - "test" correctly tries to go to the hostname. - "test." tries to do a search engine search (why?). - "test.v" still tries to do a search engine search. - "test.ve" correctly tries to go to the hostname. - "test.vej" tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejl" still tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle" still tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle." still tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle.i" still tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle.in" correctly tries to go to the hostname. - "test.vejle.int" correctly tries to go to the hostname. - "test.vejle.inte" tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle.inter" tries to do a search engine search. - "test.vejle.intern" tries to do a search engine search. I do not understand why the logic behind it has to be this complex. When the group policy is set, why don't you just treat anything a hostname until a character that is not valid in a URL is typed (like for example a space)?5.3KViews0likes3Comments
