Unable to change "tab title" of SharePoint site

Copper Contributor

Hello,

We are setting up a new SharePoint site, and I am unable to figure out how to change the "tab title" of the site itself. We utilized a template for setting up the site, and the words "RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT" still appear in browser tabs (shown below). There does not seem to be a way to adjust this, despite changing the Site name in Site Information, we still see the unwanted text:

Hi. @rbaetsen
To change the "tab title" of your SharePoint site:

1- Click the gear icon and select "Site Information."
2- Update the "Title" field with the desired tab title.
3- Save the changes and refresh the browser tab. Clear cache if needed.
4- Check custom scripts or branding settings if the issue persists.

Hi @Lalit Mohan - thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, changing the tile yields the same result, this is what shows when I go to change the site name:

But the "RESEARCH & DESIGN" still shows in the tab title, which is bizarre.

Would you have any further details on how to access the custom scripts / branding settings?

Thank you!

@rbaetsen Try following these steps:

  1. Go to Site Pages library
  2. Locate the home page of your SharePoint site, select the checkbox next to it and open Properties from command bar at the top
  3. Change Title property of the site page and Save

Follow this article for detailed steps: SharePoint Online: Create a blank page without header & title  (check "Change the Title of Blank Page" section at the bottom of article).
