Remove a Power BI dashboard linked to a SharePoint Online list

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I have created Power BI reports from a SharePoint Online list (via the "Integrate" button).

Now I want to remove some reports from the "Integrate" button, but I can't find the option.

Is it possible, and how can I do it ?

Thank you in advance !

Hi @CharlesGO-PP,

To remove a Power BI dashboard linked to a SharePoint Online list, you cannot do it from within SharePoint Online. You must do it from the Power BI service (https://app.powerbi.com/).

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Power BI service.
  2. Navigate to the workspace that contains the dashboard.
  3. Click on the dashboard that you want to remove.
  4. Click on the More options button (ellipsis) in the top right corner of the dashboard.
  5. Select Delete.
  6. Click on the Delete button again to confirm.

The Power BI dashboard will be removed from the SharePoint Online list.

Decide if you are certain about deleting the dashboard, as this action cannot be undone. If you want to retain any reports or data, it's a good practice to export or save them before deleting the dashboard.

Thank you @LeonPavesic for your reply.

Unfortunately, the reports I created from the SharePoint Online list don't appear in any workspace / I can't find them in PBI Service, only by clicking on the "Integrate" button.

This is the first time I have created a dashboard this way (from SharePoint Online), it would be really helpful to understand how this works.

Thanks a lot !

Hi @CharlesGO-PP,

thank you for your reply.

I understand that you are having trouble finding the Power BI reports that you created from the SharePoint Online list in the Power BI service.

This is because when you create a Power BI report from a SharePoint Online list using the "Integrate" button, the report is not actually saved to the Power BI service. Instead, it is stored in a temporary location in SharePoint Online.

To access the report in the Power BI service, you need to click on the "Integrate" button and then click on the report that you want to open. This will open the report in the Power BI service, but it will not be saved to any workspace.

To save the report to a workspace, you need to click on the "Save" button in the top right corner of the report. This will open a dialog box where you can select the workspace that you want to save the report to.

Once you have saved the report to a workspace, you will be able to access it from the Power BI service by navigating to the workspace and then clicking on the report.

If you cannot find the "Save" button in the top right corner of the report, then it is likely that the report is still in the temporary location in SharePoint Online. To save the report to a workspace, you will need to follow the steps above to open the report in the Power BI service and then click on the "Save" button.

Thank you very much. Sadly, I have a save button at the top left (by clicking on "File" then "Save"), but it doesn't ask me to choose a workspace. At the top right, there's a "Publish" button which produces the same result.
I'd like to raise the subject again, as I haven't found a solution yet. Thanks in advance!
