Lookbook Contracts Site not provisioning

Copper Contributor

Trying to use the lookbook to work with Syntex.  I have Syntex configured on the tenant and have created a content center but when trying to create the Contracts Site, I get the following error.

Pre-requirements not fulfilled!

The SharePoint Syntex Contract Managemant template is built on top of SharePoint Syntex and can only be installed if you as a user have a SharePoint Syntex license assigned.

I can't get past this.  Also, management is misspelled in the error - that's a whole other thing 🙂

Any idea what I'm missing?

Funny you ask. I've done two so I'm not sure which it was I used the main resource addition. The one that says create a resource and also used app services resource

Finally figured this out.

  1. Ignore the Lookbook – no bueno
  2. Setup a Syntex Resource Group in portal.azure.com and attach a subscription.
  3. Go ahead and create a SharePoint Content Center –
    1. Go to SharePoint Admin.
    2. New Site
    3. More Options
    4. Site Template – Content Center
  4. Next, go to O365 Admin – admin.microsoft.com (Make sure you are on an elevated account that can do billing and admin.
    1. Go to Setup in the left menu.
    2. Scroll to the Header “Files and Content” and select “Use content AI with Microsoft Syntex”

  1. Choose “Manage Microsoft Syntex”
    1. A slide out menu will pop up on the right hand side.
    2. Select your content center.
    3. *** See above:  If you have not created a content center, go to SharePoint admin and create a site collection.  Select “More options” and then choose the template “Content Center” *****
    4. For the rest of the options – and this was the key – while you are creating the Contracts Template,  turn each of the processors on for ALL SHAREPOINT sites.  If you restrict it, Syntex blows up and says that there are no sites.  This will allow you to create a blank site and then apply the Contracts Template.
  2. Next go and create your base site.  Make sure it is a TEAMS site.
  3. Once its finished provisioning, go in and change the template – you will see Contracts:

  1. Hit it! It will take about 2 or 3 minutes.
  2. Once its finished provisioning, go back to the Admin Center (step 4) and navigate back to Syntex.  Change each “Processing” model back to the Contracts Site (otherwise Syntex will show up in every document library and that could be a financial disaster with a crazy clicker – we all have them.

Hopefully that will work….. This wasn’t as straightforward as it should have been.

I took a slightly different approach. Your pretty much spot on. For me atleast what made a difference was when you click on the manage microsoft syntex from the setup menu in admin center . The next thing that pops up. Select create content center. I've done it twice for two separate Tenants. The first time it was a brand new setup. No sites had been created. With that being said. I was able to select the options on the create site page and select the contract management from the selection. Windows. It also gave me a pop warning saying that it would have to be connected to a document library site. Just to note after doing so. Later on It wouldn't allow me to add the template to another site. It only gave the option for to apply it to that one site. Jfrenzey another member of the community called me and i helped him through screen share on teams and it also came down to having to have a document library site. Just thought I would share this information.
But anyways very nice job on the walk-through. I'm sure many will be very thankful. You did a good job. In the future if you set up another I would like to know the outcome and to see If it went smoothly. IF ANYONE ELSE IS SUCCESSFULL, PLEASE POST YOUR SUCCESS EVEN IF ITS JUST A THUMBS UP.
