Hub Site Permissions

Hello

I have set up a communication site as the root site of SharePoint.

I have then registered it as a hub site and associated other sites to the hub site. This has all worked well in the admin centre as you can see below,

But within SharePoint I can’t view the hub site settings in the gear icon and can see hub permissions within the site permissions menu.

I decided to unregister the hub site and set it again, but it comes up with the error that the site can’t be updated.

I can't see the hub settings within SharePoint and really need this to set hub permission correctly.

How can I resolve this ?

  • priya216 What options do you see under settings? I can see below setting options:

Do you see the above highlighted settings? Can you share screenshot if possible?

When did you register this site as a hub site? How much time you waited after registering it as a hub site?

  • Make site you are the Site Collection Administrator for the site. That will give you all the settings needed to manage the hub site. But remember, your root site does not have to be a hub if you are OK with global navigation in the app bar and not on top (and megamenu only on the main home page).

I am Site Collection Administrator, I can elevate myself as global admin too. I still do not see the option "hub site settings" neither do I see the hub tab in site permissions.
I have tried to unregister the site as a hub and register it again but I get an error message saying the 'site can't be update' - what does this mean ?

I want my root site to be a hub as that is how I want the root site to be.

      Any other ideas ?
      • priya216 I would try adding someone else as Site Collection Admin for that site and see if they see the hub site settings. But, since you are getting an error message in the admin center, I wonder if there is a different problem with the site. Unfortunately, I can't help with that. You may need to make a support call. But try adding someone else and see if they can see the hub settings - and update them. That would at least allow you to get the outcome you want while you try to figure out what is going on.
