BCS - Read SQL Server Table data

Hi folks,

which is the best way to read data from sql server table through SharePoint BCS?

I tried using designer to add an external list, but then when I want to display it in a sharepoint page it faults: access denied.

Can you help me please?

Is this SPO or SP OnPrem? Have you created an App Id in the Secure Store?
