Upgrade path for BC Team Members
HIDen_Vill
Business Central (BC) Team Members is a different license, while BC Essentials & Premium are different versions of basically the same license.
That said, I believe you'd have to purchase the licenses that you want at the end of the current term. As a friendly reminder, you cannot have a mix of Essentials & Premium licenses.
If you'll allow me to dig a bit more, I can certainly update this post to confirm.

BC Team Member is just a low level, light access, license for Business Central for access into the same instance as users with a full license.
Why then would Microsoft not allow upgrades from BC Team Member to a full Essentials or Premium license?
For example. A user joins the company as an administrator and only requires basic, Team Member, access to BC. They get promoted and now need an Essentials or Premium license in their new role.
This should be an allowed upgrade scenario, either via Partner Center or by raising a support request with Microsoft.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer the "why", but your example is a very realistic one! You have me interested in finding out how this would be resolved.
My first thought is to go ahead and turn off the auto renew for BC Teams, but also purchase the BC Essentials/Premium license as an additional user...what do you think?
