D365 CSP Embed Licenses (Legacy → NCE): Is Admin Center Reassignment Required if Capacity Exists?

We are managing a CSP‑managed tenant that uses Dynamics 365 embedded licenses (for example, Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise embedded, Dynamics 365 Customer Service embedded, or other service‑provisioned Dynamics entitlements).
In this tenant:

Legacy CSP subscriptions exist for the Dynamics 365 embedded licenses

Equivalent NCE subscriptions are ordered (or will be ordered) with equal or greater capacity

Migration tooling is not available for these embedded Dynamics SKUs

In Microsoft 365 Admin Center, these licenses:

Are not user‑assignable

Do not show a Legacy vs NCE distinction

Based on Microsoft Partner Center and NCE documentation, it appears that Dynamics 365 embedded licenses are service‑provisioned, and that entitlement is governed by the subscription lifecycle, not by user‑level license assignment.
We are trying to confirm the following for Dynamics 365 embedded licenses:

No reassignment in Microsoft 365 Admin Center is required when transitioning from Legacy CSP to NCE, as long as sufficient NCE capacity exists.

Entitlement will automatically continue or transition at legacy expiration or renewal based on the subscription lifecycle.

Partner Center (and CSP billing systems) are the authoritative source for Legacy vs NCE status, rather than the customer Admin Center UI.

Is there is an official Microsoft document that explicitly confirms this behavior for embedded licenses? Microsoft Support has unfortunately not been helpful in this process.
Thank you.

Dear community,

Hope you are doing great.

We are a Distributor (ex. Indirect Provider) and we recently discovered a change in terms of Pricing in Partner Center, and more specifically when it comes to Azure Plan Pricelists download.

Usually, we were able to download the respective Azure Plan pricelist as a Category under the NCE option. However, what we see now is an option in Beta which redirects us to the Azure Portal.

Could you please be so kind to help us identify how will we be able to download the CSV Azure Plan Pricelists as we were doing couple months ago?

Thank you so much in advance for your assistance!

Nick

Hi Microsoft Community,

at the Moment we the following situation with one of our Customers from Germany.

The customer has two differrent types of contracts at the Moment, one is a M365 contract and the other one is an Open Value Supscription contract. As an attachment to this E-Mail i share the actual licenses of the Customer with you.

The customer has the follwing licenses:

M365:

1x Dynamics 365 Customer Voice for Teachers

200x Microsoft 365 A3 for Teachers

5600x Microsoft 365 A3 for Students

5x Microsoft 365 A5 for Teachers

100x Microsoft Teams Telefon Standard for Teachers

25x Microsoft Viva-Suite for Teachers

5x Planner for Project Plan 3 for Teachers

3x Planner for Project Plan 5 for Teachers

OV- Subscription:

200 FTE; MS Core CAL Client Access License Suite, incl. Software Assurance.

2x MS Exchange Server Standard, incl. Software Assurance.

200 FTE; MS Project Professional incl. Software Assurance

200 FTE; MS Visio Professional Enterprise Device, incl. Software Assurance

25x MS Windows Remote Desktop Services User CAL

1x MS SQL Server Standard Edition, incl. Software Assurance

2x MS SQL Server Standard Core, incl. Software Assurance, 2 Licenses

320 Cores; MS Windows Server Standard, incl. Software Assurance

48 Cores; MS Windows Server Datacenter Core incl. Software Assurance

The customer is a school and can participate at the Microsoft Education programm. Since the last partner of the customerdidnt do a good consulting job and wasnt able to answer the questions of the customer properly, he is now very sensitive about some questions he has. Maybe you can help us with those questions too:

With the Microsoft 365 A3 License for Teachers or Students there also comes a Windows 10/11 Desktop Operation System Upgrade to Windows 10/11 Education/Enterprise. Is there a proper Operations system like Windows 11 Pro OEM needed to install the Windows 11 Education Edition on the PCs or can the customer also buy Systems without any Microsoft Operation Systems and install the Windows 11 Education license directly on the Device?

To open up a Open Value Subscription Contract there are qualified Products needed. In this case its the Microsoft Core CALs. Are they always needed or is it possible to open a Contract without them? Cause the CALs would already been licensed about the Microsoft 365 A3 Licenses.

Is it still true, that when you License all FTEs in a Open Value Subscription contract that you can Provide all those Licenese for the Students too, for example: Visio, Project, Windows Server?

If yes, how can the Students get those licenses? Is there still a Microsoft Portal where they can sign up with their school account and can Download those Licenses?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Christoph

We have a large number of older legacy subscriptions we'd like to get off of and onto Azure Plans and as I read it until NCE is available in Gov that isn't going to be an option unless we do a resource migration (which is expensive and an exercise the customer shouldn't have to go through to get access to the cost management tools).

Thanks in advance!

Dear Community, happy holiday to everybody!

We need to make a decision on a subscription cancellation, and our Finance DPT has the impression that as part of a past cancellation within the 7 days window, we have not received a full refund.

Let's say that on 09:00 am we created a new NCE subscription. However, around noon, we received the info that we have to cancel it. The question: except from the 7 days/168 hours cancellation window, is there any other hour limitation withing the same day of cancelling a subscription in order to get a whole amount payback?

It will be really important for the whole community to understand this point clearly.
Thank you in advance for your significant support!

Warm regards,
Nick

Hi, I am trying to find documentation that states that we cannot reduce license count anytime during the triennial subscription term of licenses. I can't find anything that states triennial term specifically.

URGENT: Office LTSC Standard 2024: priced per user or per device?

Dear community,

As we need to plan our offer for a big deal through the CSP channel, could you please help us how is the Office LTSC Standard 2024 being billed? Is it per user or per device/PC?

Furthermore, if it is per device/PC, and for example we have 5x PCs, then we should buy 5x different licenses or can we install Office LTSC in more than one PC with just 1x license (something like Multiple Activation Key)?

Please help us on this the soonest in order to conclude with the offer submission.

Warm regards,
Nick

Seeking On-Premise Power BI P1 Capacity (Academic) or Suitable Alternative for Government Customer

Hello everyone,

We are working with a government agency customer who requires Power BI P1 Capacity (On-Premise) with Academic classification. Unfortunately, we’ve been informed by Microsoft that this product has been discontinued and is now only available through Azure. However, due to strict data security policies, our customer is unable to use Azure as they cannot send data to external servers.

We are looking for guidance on the following:

Is there a direct successor to the Power BI P1 Capacity (On-Premise) with Academic classification that would meet these requirements?

Are there any similar on-premise solutions for Power BI that could work for this customer?

Any suggestions on how we can provide a suitable solution would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
