Update Status Quickly | Timer for Notify When Available | Add to Left Tab
All,
As our team starting using Teams, I have some suggestions that I need to have implemented... As there might be some features already there, I was not able to find them. Since I don't want to start a thread for every single feature, I am posting them all here under different headings.
Update Status Quickly - Desktop Client
Using the desktop client brings some great adventures over the web-interface. However, some it looks like the designers did not have everything in mind when creating it...
See attached what the right click menu looks like.
Right-Click Menu
My problem is when you click Available. It opens teams with the drop down next to your profile open. If you want to change status, you have to click on Available again, and then choose the status you want. Sounds like an extra step, what if I need to change the status real quick?
Suggestion within the initial right click menu, have the Available with a sub menu, or have these 5 statuses all listed, with the one currently active being highlighted. Simple?

Timer to expire the "Notify when available"
It is sad that I am looking for a person and I see their status "away". I am setting up an alert to "Notify when available". Few minutes later, they are back to their desk, I get an alert, "John is now available". i jump on and do whatever I need. An hour later, "John is Available".... Really?!?! Whats going on here? Oh, man, you have to turn off the notification for when John becomes available. I mean, come on, I click on that person and the option reads "Turn off notifications" what????? I only want to stop the notifications when they are Available! I mean, why do I even have to stop it? Can it pleasssse timeout by itself?
Welcome to Microsoft!
Lastly (for now)
Allow customization to the left pane
I will cut this short. If you need to access Planner (for example!), you do the following;
- Click the ellipsis under "Files" on the left of the screen
- Find and open Planner
I need to be able to add whatever is accessible in the overflow menu, directly on the left pane! or else cut that pane and leave only a single (over)flow menu for Activity, Chat, Teams etc. I mean, isn't this pane for quick navigation??
