Teams Dial Tone When Entering Meetings
Hey Everyone,
I have a weird issue with a few users, all have different headsets. They go to join a Teams meeting, hear a dial tone for about 10 seconds, and then disconnects.
If they restart their PC it works. But when they try to join another meeting, same thing.
They do not have Skype installed. Have the latest Windows 11 22H2 - and updated Office/Teams.
They do not have another messaging app on their PC, like Jabber.
They do use Finesse and Cisco IP Communicator (8.6.6.17) softphone for their main calls.
Any ideas?

Hi AZ480Tech,
Here are a few ideas for troubleshooting the issue of Teams users hearing a dial tone for 10 seconds and then disconnecting when joining a meeting:
- Check the user's audio settings in Teams. Go to Settings > Devices > Audio and make sure that the correct microphone and speakers are selected. Also, try adjusting the volume levels.
- Restart the Teams app. This can often fix minor glitches.
- Clear the Teams cache. To do this, close Teams and then delete the following folders:
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\blob_storage
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\databases
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\GPU
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\IndexedDB
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Local Storage
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\MEDIA
- %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\tmp
- Update audio drivers. Make sure that the user has the latest audio drivers installed. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.
- Disable third-party audio software. If the user is using any third-party audio software, such as VoiceMeeter or Equalizer APO, try disabling it to see if that fixes the issue.
- Try a different headset. If the user is using a headset, try using a different one to see if that fixes the issue.
- Contact Microsoft support. If you have tried all of the above and the issue is still persisting, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
Here are some additional things to check, given the specific information in your post:
- Make sure that the user's Finesse and Cisco IP Communicator softphone are not interfering with Teams. Try disabling both softphones and see if that fixes the issue.
- Try updating the user's Cisco IP Communicator softphone to the latest version.
- Check the user's audio settings in Cisco IP Communicator. Make sure that the correct microphone and speakers are selected. Also, try adjusting the volume levels.
- Try using the Teams web app instead of the desktop app. If the user does not experience the issue when using the web app, then it is likely an issue with the desktop app. In this case, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app.
